Default PC freezing.

im suspecting its a PSU problem.
i recently bought a inno3D gtx570 off the forums, before installing it my pc ran fine and didnt crash at all. Now, it starts crashing after a few SC2 games or simply running a game in the background meanwhile im watching a video. the crash is smiliar to the BF3 crash, with the sound buzzing and then computer freezes.
My Pc specs are in the sig, but witha gtx570 now

my PSU
Cosair HX 650

i currently have ONE 6-pin PEG connectors plugged into the PSU, but that one connector splits off into two 6-pin PEG connectors, which is plugged into the card.

any thoughts?

i'd say that's your problem,

Try using one of the molex to PCI-E power connectors for the other power socket, make sure you plug the molex plugs into different rails/cables.

seems like a clean reformat fixed the problem.

Card was purchased from me.. I had it in SLI with a Gainward card and didn't have any issues for the entire time I owned it.

I was going to reply to his PM, but I'll just pop it here since it's all good information anyway.

Quote:
No mate, no trouble at all. Had it in SLI with the Gainward and in all honesty can't recall ever having a crash related to the video card(s). Both cards were run at 800mhz on the core at 1v (stock for GTX 570s, though interestingly the Inno3d shipped with 0.975v at stock) when the ambient temperature allowed. On the super hot summer days I just left them at stock to save pumping extra heat into my room, no aircon .

Did you clean out your drivers with 'driver cleaner', reboot and then install whatever the latest stable drivers are? This is especially important if you have been running an ATI card in the system.
Perhaps also check the cards temperatures using MSI Afterburner.. They do run quite warm if you leave the fan set on auto, so if your case ventilation isn't the best it's possible it's just overheating. By the same token try manually setting the fan speed to balls out full speed to see if it helps.
If those don't help, try running the Heaven benchmark, but just leave it looping. Check to ensure there isn't any visual artefacts, watch the temperatures and see if it crashes in any way.
If that doesn't help, then trying it in another PC is worth a shot, just to rule out it being another component or the card not 'liking' your motherboard or an issue with your power supply. I'm not sure if IRQ conflicts exist these days?
Sounds like you're already onto some of that anyway.. I'll subscribe to this thread so I can keep an eye on the progress.

EDIT: Just so everyone is aware on the timelines.. Card was received buy him 12 days ago on the 16th. 7 days or less I'd have been quick to honour the DOA I offered, at 12 days I hope you can understand my hesitation. For the moment try ruling everything else out and hopefully the card isn't at fault. In the meantime I'll see if I can work out whether or not it's still under warranty. Could get lucky and find it came with more than 12 months.

EDIT2: Information in Inno3d warranty is a bit patchy. I've found one 'article' that suggests that they upped the warranty period to 2 years from 1 year back when 7000 series cards were out, but I can't find anything newer. Is there by chance anything written on the box that might suggest how long it's covered for?
I'll dig up the receipt, it has to be around here somewhere. PLE won't want to help as it's been longer than 12 months, but the disty should be alright. Altech from memory.

EDIT3: From what I can work out these cards shipped with a 2 year warranty (http://thecomputerwarehouse.com.au/i...gtx-570-1280mb). Looking at other cards in the Inno3d range they all appear to have 2 or 3 years depending on the model. I'll do my absolute best to dig up the receipt and get it to you so that if you do determine that the card is at fault you have an avenue to get it repaired/replaced. I'm leaving town tomorrow morning for a couple of days, so I'll probably have to leave hunting for it until I get back on Monday night.

Will certainly be as helpful as I can.

Matt.

it can be my psu. my pc was running fine with a HD5770, its currently sitting in my cousin's pc atm, ill let him test it out for a few days.

i ment it ran fine before i installed the gtx570.

@ chamelion, never doubted the gfx was screwed up before you sold it to me! also dont worry about the receipt, it came with the gpu! the receipt indicates you bought it around mid last year, so theres still roughly one year left of warranty on it. and yes i did use driver cleaner and wiped all traces of ati drivers off it before installing the gtx570.

for the time now, ill leave it with my cousins till the end of the weekend.

its probably my motherboard, it has a history of issues.
Oh good, I don't even recall putting the receipt in the box. Saves me hunting around for it.

I was the second owner WJR was the original purchaser. Altech would have been the distributor, so worst case organise an RMA with them... looking on their site the Inno3d GTX 560 came with 2 years, so the 570 is certain to have.

ill hassle MSY first, receipt says it was purchased on 22/06/2011. should be fine. but i still doubt its the GPU's fault. time will tell!

Theres a possibility it might be a hot mobo chip? These things are often overlooked for cooling....
