well i got a replacement H80 and its quiet as a mouse. I must have had one of the last noisy ones... the new one is brilliant. i put a couple of Scythe Gts on it aswell, but really dont think that made any difference to the temps... it cost me $50 though... lol

Mines dead silent unless I run it for 16+ hours straight and it developers an impeller rattle that won't settle unless it sits off for about a minute.

My second H100 was a grinder and the guy at Umart tried to tell me it was normal.
Got a refund though, will wait a few months for a new batch to come through and hopefully it will be fixed by then. I didn't even install it; everything unopened and untouched so they'll probably put it back on the shelf for some other sucker.

How did you know it was a grinder if you didn't open anything and never installed it?

I just opened the box (not sealed) and just poked the molex header out of the bag the unit was packaged in (again not sealed) and connected it to a header on my PSUs.

2 days from submitting to receiving the Advanced RMA from Corsair, that's impressive service. So far so good with the new cooler, from reading Corsair forums, H100's starting with serial number 1227 are the improved 'non buzzing versions'.

Just check the serial no. that will give you an indication if it is the 'improved' version, regardless, the Advanced RMA procedure is a painless exercise worst case.

I don't know if the RMA would be accepted based purely on the serial number. I'd probably do what LM did above and just plug the pump in and listen for some kind of noise.

Just purchased h100 locally today. 150$$ pretty pricey, but its for quality so whatever, right?
When I opened box, plastic bag looked like it was scrunched up and tucked down...I thought it was a bit average...either its a return or corsair packs stuff pretty carelessly... Before even removing from the plastic bag, my sense of excitement was diminished somewhat when I saw the rad. Some bent fins on front and back, looks like paint didn't get on it so I would guess its like that from factory....guessing. For some reason I expected all fins to be straight and basically to be uniform.... Was I expecting too much? Do I rage back to retailer, to corsair or deal with it and try straighten myself? Either this is b.s. or I am being to pedantic/expecting too much...but hey, its $150 dammit. Totally expected more.... Other owners how was yours? Click to view full size! |

mate, bent fins are the norm with these. in system builds maybe 1 in 3 have a fair few bent and folded over straight out of a sealed box.
probably best off going directly to corsair for a RMA if you wanted to go down that road or just lightly bend fins back in place.

Sending mine back via RMA - got a message from UPS but Corsair hasn't sent me my prepaid label yet - the nearest pickup location is like a 40 minute drive I don't really want to do it - wonder if I can make Corsair pay for the aus post fees to get it there (although may be pushing it considering they are paying for the international postage). I could take it back to MSY but I would end up getting another dodgy one... they better send me one with a new lot number though but on the plus side people who have done multiple RMAs have been getting free headsets
