Default Exchange/Outlook 2013 Preview is Out!

Hey Guys,

I don't post very often, but thought the enterprise community might want to get in on the preview and start setting up some labs

It's nothing exciting really.

To me it's Office 2010 with a theme to go with Windows 8.

Cursor speed is a bit laggy when typing, but I think that's by design.

A bit unfortunate that it doesn't have black themes like 2010...

Yeah I noticed the cursor speed thing also! It was annoying.

I don't really care about office so much as I want to see whats happening with exchange. At least I can tell people to fuck off with their public folders bullshit now!

It's a bit hit or miss though - some PDFs open brilliantly and can be edited just like any normal document, while others open with gibberish.

Overall though, I'm not noticing a lot different to Office 2010. It feels a lot the same, just with a bleached UI. And missing Jump Lists, which is quite annoying for Outlook.

Surprised by Exchange 2013 - messing around in the lab and its snappy, even on my test virtuals. Much quicker than 2007/2010 with equivalent specs. Back to two roles now, CAS or Mailbox (incorporates Hub, some CAS, UM and mailbox). Edge servers not in the current build.

Not so sure on the OWA experience though - very sparse and makes things...bright.

Exchange management GUI now all web based, only exception is message tracking. Interesting how that pans out for them.

Surprised on how reliable it has been, have flogged it a fair amount and it has held up without any issues at all so far.

Now to play with Sharepoint and Lync 2013.

Hmm I found it needed a bit more grunt than exchange 2010. Pagefile was out of control (admittedly I skimped the RAM).

SharePoint 2013 looks like HOT SHIT. Especially Office Web Apps integration.

Coolest feature I've found so far is you can preview documents in a thumbnail view and scroll throw them right on the sharepoint site!
