Iron Photographer July 2012 - Sports

The Theme for the June Iron Photographer Competition is : Sports

This month we want to see your best sporting shot!
You don't need the big gear to nab a winning action pic, in broad daylight even the humblest of kit lenses will do a fine job.

So get creative, get inspired, and most of all get out there and shoot!

* No entries posted later than 31st of July 10pm EDST will be accepted.
* Please post entries directly into this thread.

Entry format:

Image title
[IMG]image url[/IMG]
Image title to be shortish as this will be poll option name.

The rest of the rules:
* No entries taken before the theme announcement will be accepted and no entries will be accepted after the closing time even if the thread remains open. (Note that for this month only we'll accept imgaes taken retrospectively from the 1st of July 2012. Sorry about the lateness of this months comp! -Arch-Angel)
* The judges' decision is final.
* Each member is allowed to submit ONE photo for consideration. You may change your submitted photo at any time up to the due date. Just edit your post in the entries thread and go from there.
* All entries must no more than 1024 pixels on the longest edge. This includes any borders you choose to add.
* Only light photoshopping is allowed. Adjustment of Levels, Colour Correction, Contrast, Sharpening and Cropping is allowed.
* The entry thread will be closed at the specified time. No additional entries will be accepted, except under special circumstances.
* Photographs posted that contain nudity will be allowed according to the forum groundrules.
* Entries breaking these rules will be disqualified.
* Comments can be made in this thread.

Quick tip for this month guys - don't think that you have to be shooting someone/something famous. There are plenty of opportunities for shooting sports everywhere and every day.

Local skate parks, bowls clubs, tennis courts, gymnasiums, weekend school footy games etc etc. Check your local paper for a list of local sporting rounds. Or just head to the pub for a beer and shoot some drunken yobs playing darts...

Even the portrait photographers among us can probably rustle up some sweaty gym gear to stick a model in. Or get your bridal party Hula Hooping!

Generally the IP themes can be taken as loose or as literal as you like.

That said, I would always consider motorsport to be 'sport'.

Just note, if you want to formally enter a pic you need to do it according to the entry format in the OP.

Since it is all time, this is easily the best sports shot I have ever taken. Wimbledon 2009.
