oh I also have a question! Anyone know if everyone will be using the runoff (on the right) to give a wider angle for T3 (or is it T4?). The hard left at the end of the bottom of the hill (2nd straight).

EDIT: apparently that's turn 5

I've seen that one before, upside down car on the S/F straight, just like iRacing. I wish F1 would use these helmet cams rather than the ones at the side of the helmet.

Also, check Jordan Taylor's night helmet cams from Sebring and Le Mans.

I've always wondered if iRacing count T2 at Road America when calculating SR. I still cant see it.

I think its the kink just before the braking zone for T3

And it probably does count towards SR

I'm not sure you would get that much of a gain? It would also leave you very open to an overtake!

Those sebring videos are interesting. He used different gears than I remember using in the vette round that track. Other than that it was cool to see him using pretty much the same braking points etc.

T5 is up to the driver really, whether or not they can make it work. Its easier in high downforce cars to get a huge gain from it.

Anyways was just doing some setup work and got a new PB in the V8 of 2:11.850. If you raise the rear end and dump the front it seems to help on the straights, and loosen it up on corner entry which helps turn-in. Dunno about tyre pressures yet, but getting faster bit by bit.

Do you mean raising the rear helps on the straights due to more grip on exit? (I thought more rake would reduce speed a bit on the straights).

Are you using your own setup?

Yea massive rake helped for straightline speeds, could be due to the low springs and rear bar, the rear would be squatting nicely under power, then popping up under braking for a nice balanced entry. But I dunno...

Heres my setup so far - https://dl.dropbox.com/u/10842784/RA_test_7.sto

I found that uncontrollably twitchy on exit. Especially round turn 11. Not to say its not fast though since it obviously is, just doesn't seem to mix well for me. It maybe I need to give it some more time.

Matt I noticed your setup on the drive, I moved it to the setups folder, hope thats ok?

FUCK NO!

(by which I mean of course! )

Might pay to have a Folder per race event with a setups folder within that too, just to make things easier in the long run i.e. in case 2 'setup.sto's get uploaded.

Looking forward to comparing setups, I really feel like you can make bigger differences to the V8 compared to the aero cars which surprises me as I thought it'd take a bit longer to get a feel for it.

Also, anyone else tried the MX5 Roadster since the new build? Give it a go - it's quite different. Almost feels like it's been given the cup's transmission as the mid-gears are shorter (bug?)...

NTM model updates were not mentioned in the build notes (that's the PR strategy of the last few builds, a countermeasure to the unconstructive feedback received before). Here's a good summary:

Quite the improvement to drivability, heard very few drivers who aren't happy with it.

In many ways, I am glad I am not making use of FFB/force-feedback, as I personally believe that a game needs to be coded really well for it to semi accurately deliver FFB effects. Problem in real life is that you hardly experience any of the forces present in FFB through the steering-wheel of a car.

Probably time we start building 6-DOF setups

But, as said, only my personal preference, there are many people that prefers FFB, and is extremely happy with it.

Sort of OT, soz - just thought I'd chime in and mention that I probably am not affected by the same issues wrt FFB. A bit different to 'feel' what the car is doing without FFB, and the fluid-damper on the ECCI wheel does a nice job to emulate the forces at play in the wheel of a car.

The FFB in iracing is very, very good though! I wouldn't be able to drive well without it personally.

Matt sounds like your idea might be a good one with track notes ad setup in the one. Feel free to add folders and things and move stuff around, you should have the permissions to do so.

I wondered if they made changes to the NTM in general because the Mustang feels different and awesome like the V8 as well. You should all try out the solstice also.

I've never used FFB. Every time i've tried it, i've either set it up right and thats how it's meant to be or i do it wrong every single time.

Whenever i've tried FFB, it's almost like i need a 6ft breaker bar just to turn the damn wheel. Not to mention the wheel itself wanting to turn when i get to corners which is just plain weird.

I signed up for the free 6 months deal and having spent 5? hours over the weekend with it, I'm already over it..

On the US speedway track, I'm a good 1+ second behind the slowest guy in the field.. (27.5 secs) and then when racing on okayama track I'm a good 5+ seconds slower than the last guy (1.12sec).. Whilst I don't spin or anything, I don't how people manage to do the laps that they do.. I've improved a few seconds over the course of a few days, but I'll be buggered if I can get another 10 seconds out of the track..

Guess I just don't have the reflexes of some 12 yr old on crack sipping red cordial... Am i having fun? Not really.. Getting your pants pulled down and thoroughly spanked is enough to deflate anyones ego..
