haha yeah last night was the 2nd time I've charged mine but it still didn't really need it. It's nice to have something you can just let 'lie around' and not worry about.. I could leave it off charge for 4 or 5 days, come back still have confidence (hopefully ) that it will have charge.

This is also the 'tossability' factor which Vic Gundotra had a G+ post on. You can happily toss this on the lounge or bed.. I'm guessing if I had rugs I would happily toss it there too. It's the right weight, size, price, shape.

(waits for tossing jokes)

I've had to charge my tablet a couple times since I got it but I use mine to watch quite a bit of video. Battery is still pretty decent.

Yeah I'm very impressed with battery life on mine. Used it for a good 7 hours last night while I was watching movies and the damn thing still had 50% charge, that was using Wifi as well! Would definitely recommend turning the brightness down, I have mine right down and it has made a pretty big difference to my battery life. Make sure you turn on the option to disable wifi when sleeping too, if you're away from home it will stop it from scanning for wifi networks constantly.

Found a pretty awesome feature in Plex last night. If you install Plex Media Centre alongside the server program it will ask you whether you want to play on PC or tablet when selecting a movie. As soon as I select my PC the display turns to a full screen remote, very slick

Wee! Went to every JB Hifi, Dicksmiths in Adelaide to find one.. all out of stock but luckily Officeworks had one..

Haven't used Android since Froyo? days.. got alot of reading up to do.. /firstworldproblems...

Really enjoying the 7" form factor typing is alot easier compared to the iPad

Do I have to root it to get access to the hidden files on the internal storage?

You'll need root to get outside of the /sdcard folder

My bad. Although you will still only have read permissions; no write permissions without root (chmod won't work either).

I only ever require that I get 18 hours of use from my gadgets as I charge them every night when I go to bed. The Nexus does this with ease (probably triple that in fact)

I would say that browsing the net over wifi with the screen at 30% ish I am getting around 9 hours of screen time.

Haven't tested just how much gps or games suck the battery yet.

Anyone found a thin/simple sleeve for the 7?

I don't want a big leather case thing, just something that will let me throw it into my bag without worrying.

I am using what I can only describe as a "sock", made by Belkin for the kindle.. Fits perfectly and doesn't add any bulk to the device when I am using it (since it isn't attached)

My screen popout has appeared again

I dunno if I can be bothered taking it back though, it's not a huge deal breaker for me since it's only a 5cm area on the bottom left. It will likely annoy the shit out of me though :/

Is there a desktop program/application I can get to backup everything on the tablet before resetting it?

You can do a backup with the all in one unlock/root tool from XDA. Once rooted you can use titanium backup.

Tool is here - http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=1766475

EDIT: And you can backup before unlocking or rooting, but to restore the backup you have to root.
