Well ive been sick , knocked out in bed for around 7 days! Thanks flu and fever! one day i got bored lying in bed so i grabbed my iphone, jumped on youtube and looked for zombie stuffs....I ended up finding DAYZ, and discovered that it may or may not be the game for me...But i wanted to try it, and my HP DV6 Laptop that i swapped my old gaming rig for will probably not be able to play it.......... Anyway....Flu and Fever in hand, i spent about 2 hours researching a nice budget build i could game with, and headed off to a few pc shops!
I ended up with the rig below! Case : Bitfenix Colossus case Motherboard : Asrock Z77 Extreme 4 Cpu : Intel 3570k 3.4ghz Ram : 16GB Gskill Ripjaws Gpu : Gainward GTX 580 HDD : 1Tb Western Digital PSU : Corsair GS800 Cooling Cpu : Corsair H80 Keyboard : Roccat Isku Illuminated Mouse : Razer Naga Expert Wireless Box Build Cost : $1015 ( not including keyboard, mouse, h80 ) Total Build Cost : $1364 ( including keyboard, mouse, h80 ) Everything in the build is brand new EXCEPT the GPU and the Case ![]() I also couldn't resist office works deal on 2TB Externals for 117$ so i got 2 of them making my total external storage around 10TB now. i got this build yesterday and im yet to game or benchmark as im still installing / updating steam / bf3 etc etc and downloading arma2 to try dayz! I got the ISKU board mainly because i was bored of the same old logitech / razer setup, but i couldn't resist the naga as i think its sexy. ![]() ![]() ![]()

haha good idea, how's that keyboard and what does that button on the palmrest do?
I like the new technology contrasting with the old banged up desk lol. Mind if I post up some spontaniety of my own which I did this week as a reply?

Thanks guys!
Haha @ the desk! ive had this desk for about 10 years, i made it from scrap wood i had lying around and its been banged up over the years, and it has a slight concave in the middle lol! Feel free to post your own spontaneous purchases as replies! The only reason i could afford this is because of my fortnightly wage combined with my tax return netted me around 3.5k worth of money to blow, and cause i was sick for a whole week i didn't spend any of it! There is 3 buttons on the palm rest which can be bound to what ever you like, i would just probably bind it to grenades / knife kill etc on bf3, but the keyboard and mouse combo i got is directed towards a MMORPG player as the mouse has 12 buttons on the side as well! The keyboard also has 5 macro buttons on the side and 5 extra profiles for each of them up the top, you can also record macros on the fly with this keyboard, you could potentially hit the "rec" button, play an entire game of BF3, then hit your macro button and it will do everything, this keyboard has a mouse talk feature so it records every single thing you do on the keyboard and mouse together

haha couldeent justify spending 300-500$ on a tiny hdd, normal drives are fast enough these days, my nephew runs bf3 of an external usb3 drive with less hardware than me and its fine lol

SSD's are overrated... I've gone through 2 now, both dead as a dodo just outside of warranty... I've never had a mechanical drive die on me (except in cases of abuse)... For the sake of a few seconds load time for Windows, and a fraction of a second in load times for programs, it's just not worth it...
Pure epeen/wank factor IMHO...

Just like PSU's, people never thought a decent subsystem was important until i RAID0'ed my raptors, then R5, then 4x 15k SAS drives
then just 1 SSD drive flogged the crap out of all of those. |

Glad you guys think it's so funny, but fucked if I'm going to put a hard drive into my laptop that I can't rely on... I got stuck on site with clients looking over my shoulder 6 months ago thanks to a POS SSD... 12 months before that I had one die on me inside my desktop in the middle of a gaming session... I have a 10 year old 320GB seagate HDD in my NAS that's never skipped a beat, still perfect... I won't be using an SSD again until they're that reliable...
SSD's are the Alfa Romeo's of the IT world... They might go well and look good, but what's the point in it if it spends half it's life in the shop being fixed?
