Evening all
Just stumbled onto this when looking around for some info on the original VG strat http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KKhGu-BPpng It is very keenly priced in Oz web price $1200ish for a guitar that last sold for $4k here http://www.shiremusic.com.au/site/in...ory_code=10022
No news on battery life, but I guess we will here are time goes by. I know this is not for everyone, but could be useful for some (like me lol) I'm guessing a a big part of the price reduction is that the guitar isn't an American Strat, a big emphasis in the first iteration of this But for $1200, you could do worse Cheers (plus, please no flames lol ![]() )Cheers |

Really,to me its a shame Fender didn't go the way of the Gibsons Robot..ie,having the auto tuning machine heads, the vg kinder does "similar things"..but correct me if wrong, the guitar is out of tune but corrected by the software?

Hi everyone
Just thought I'd share hat I sourced on of the original 2007 models and Wollongong Music (serial no confirmed by Fender Australia with a copy of the delivery list Best part was, it was less than the street price of a US strat. Worst part was ( and I'm being picky here . . .) is that is a black and white with maple - just like my other mid 80's MIJ strat. Different feel, but definitely great fun, going from playing "start me up/brown sugar" to some Angels with buckers and then a bit of Supertramp/America/Bob Dylan with acoustic sound is amazing! Battery life is 9-10 hours and I have 2 sets of eneloops on standby - would be great if Fender sold spare battery holders! So, when the come, have a bash and see what you think Cheers |

Nice.
I've barely touched my guitars in the last year of so, but there's always the thought of "I want an X and a Y and a Z guitar" going on in the back of my mind. From what I can see, all the different guitar and tuning emulations are built into the guitar itself, one guitar that can be X or Y or Z whenever you want it. Big thumbs up from me for that. On the other hand, right now you could do the same thing for less by going for the Roland GR-55 system. http://www.shiremusic.com.au/site/in...duct_id=202371 It will do everything the Fender VG Strat will do but you don't get all the controls on the guitar itself like the VG Strat has. On the other hand, the GR-55 will do more, not just modelling different guitars, also modelling different amps, effects, and guitar-synth/midi as well. Plus you can have a Roland GK pickup fitted to a guitar (or bass) you already have and still spend less than the price of the VG Strat. I have the older (late 80's) GR-50 guitar synth system that I both like and dislike, so I already have a guitar ready to drive a GR-55. Here's one of the best general reviews of the GR-55 I've seen on youtube (25 minutes). http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MFRRRhf8EXs |
