I don't think collusion is the word you are looking for either
. Unless the guy with a helmet is conspiring with the guy without a helmet to cheat some other punters .Collision is probably the word you want. I can imagine it would be nasty for a helmeted head to impact a non-helmeted one. For that reason alone, you should wear one... that way, when you get taken out by the obligatory out-of-control snowboarder... you can do some damage as you both hit the ground together. |

Or to play devils advocate, if you feel you do need a helmet, maybe you are riding beyond your abilities.
.I'm 50/50 wearing helmets currently. I'll tend not to wear them if I'm just out riding with groomers in the sun. |

Hello - I'm an Aussie in London (~5 years) and have just recently become obsessed with skiing after my first trip spending a week on Morzine/PDS in March this year. Since that I've been hitting the indoor snow dome nearby fairly hard and have a trip booked for January 2013.
But at some point in the next couple of years I'll be thinking about living in Australia again (almost definitely Melbourne, for context) and am trying to get to grips with skiing in Australia (and NZ).I've been following this thread and have been checking snow-forecast and cams to see how this season develops and just get a bit more context for timings etc. So that's been good. But costs are confusing me. Let's say I wanted to do a week in Hotham, from say, Saturday to Saturday - and getting 7 days skiing in. Probably just solo. Vague estimates: Resort Entry - 39.5 * 8 = $316 Lift Pass - 7 days, $557 Ski Rental - It seems to vary, but let's say $150 Subtotal: $1023 Accomodation - ??? I can't find any good estimates for this. Let's estimate $100/night, so $700 Total: $1723 Also need car/fuel costs I guess. Does this sound in the right ballpark? Do people tend to do shorter weekends or day type trips rather than full weeks? It's slightly difficult to find availability for bookings that _aren't_ Sat to Sat over here (in Morzine at least) - so that's why I've started there as a base. The accommodation and resort entry stuff confuses me the most to be honest. Guidance appreciated!

We had some new snow Yesterday, and word around the traps is that Thursday is still looking good for even more. Supposed to get real cold down to real low levels, so any snow that falls should be really good. |
