There's a whole bunch of free play old arcade machines at the Game Masters exhibit at fed square in Melbourne at the moment. Machines included among many others donkey kong, pacman, robotron, xevious, centipede, daytona etc. There's also console games, handhelds, pc games, dance, rockband, singstar etc. It's $22 entry but worth a look if you have the time.

and look! An ars story on nearly just this topic;
the-surprising-stealth-rebirth-of-the-american-arcade I dream of this stuff and was lucky enough to make it to barcade with a friend last year. We had a blast and its killed any other 'nightlife' experience I've managed. Would be great to see someone emulate this but I'm not sure if the same success could be emulated. |
