didn't do your hack, but i'm getting pretty good reception Optus Sydney CBD on S3

3539-4367 down
1500-1669 up
70-85 ping

Will do some tests at home in the suburbs tonight to see what speeds are like.

I do find in my bedroom if I leave 3G on overnight, it absolutely sucks my battery dry, so I need to switch it on 2G mode when I get home every night. 3G in CBD is no problems. I think I must be right on the brink between 2G/3G reception so i'm guessing in the middle of the night it keeps switching back and forth or something and demolishing my battery...

G-data is in particular a huge killer. An stock option to kill data depending on the state of the network would be great to be honest.

On my S3 the last option is 5, not 4 but option 1 is to use WCDMA All [] Is that not better?

No because phones prioritise 2100 over 900. So if you choose 'ALL' you won't get the 900 superior reception and typically throughput.

Service mode code doesn't work on my Optimus 2X. I'd probably benefit a lot from locking it. Shame. Can't find an alternative code that works.
