What OS are you guys mostly running?

I've put an OpenElec and a RaspiMC image on each of 2 separate SD cards, but so far I've been relatively unimpressed.

I've been having issues getting anything to display on my Kogan 32" LCD tv via HDMI, sometimes I get something through composite AV.

Literally all I want is a machine to do the following smoothly:
- play videos from my Synology NAS
- play music from my Synology NAS
- display photos from my Synology NAS
- maybe later play stuff from shared iTunes servers or Airplay

I'm doing everything from a Mac but have Parallels running Win7 Professional, so I'm trying to work out the best way to do the images.

Any particular images/OS that anyone would recommend??

Openelec. Try a different HDMI cable, a better PSU or making a config.txt file and use the settings from this page.

Ordered from where? My second one arrived last week in 10 days from element14.

I ordered mine last weekend and it just arrived this morning! I was told 5 weeks, it's crazy

Mucking around with it at work, I really want to get that official Android 4.0 port going but for the moment I'm playing with Raspbmc. Anxiously waiting for it to finish "Formatting Partitions".

It's not worth it.

You'll get it and feel like you've been ripped off and ripped a new one at the same time.

It's an official port by some of the people from Broadcom apparently which means GPU acceleration is up and running. I can imagine the main limitation would be the 256MB of RAM but animations and video playback look pretty smooth. Keen to give it a try, the foundation reckons a testing release should be available in a month or so. They're not ready to release it yet.

I wouldn't, go straight to E14. It seems orders are being filled quickly now. All that site is doing is reselling from E14/RS at an inflated price since they are the only places anyone can buy from.
