Default Noisy CPU Cooler

I've just upgraded my cpu to an AMD FX-8150 8-Core Processor and I'm getting a lot of noise out of the stock cooler. I've downloaded speedfan to see if I can manage the fan speed on it a little better but I'm struggling with it.

First off my specs.
Gigabyte GA-970A-D3 Motherboard
VTX3D Radeon HD7850 2GB X-Edition
AMD FX-8150 8-Core Processor
OCZ Vertex 3 120GB SSD Max IOPS
Samsung SpinPoint F3 1TB HD103SJ
Seasonic X-750 750W Power Supply
Corsair DDR3 4gb (2x2gb) Ram
Older 500gb hd (Can't remember model and brand)

When I load it up I get the following image....
http://tinypic.com/r/1h5ymb/6
Does anyone have any idea what the first 3 temperatures on the right column in the centre signify?
Does the 59C indicate a problem? How about the speed of the fans?
I'm assuming the 128C indicates that there isn't a temperature recorded so it just goes to the maximum. Does that sound right?

Replace the stock heatsink. They aren't worth the metal they're made out of.

I'm thinking that the Cooler Master Hyper 212 Evo might be the cooler to suit. Would you agree with that?

Yep

I have 2 of them But beware, the 8150 does run hot. My FX 6100 is a hot little chip. But I use a H50 on it. (For quiet not performance)

But yeah, grab an evo

The Hyper EVO is a better cooler, from memory and my experience. I still replaced my 212+ with an H50, but for aesthetics.

Good choice OP.

Tthe 212 is an amazing cooler, honestly the best cooler for under ~$60, it punches well above its weight.
I had my 8120 under a 212 between loops and I got 4.6ghz out of it, max temp at 1.45v was about 55c

or you could check out the freezer A30 - $39 locally - its meant to be a decent quiet performer.

as an asside, your specs are right about what I am looking at upgrading to, how does it perform? - mine is WAY overdue

Historically, AMD have had the worst heatsink coolers, even for enthusiast models. I've had a heatsink fan that can barely keep good temps under stock. It's fucking loud too even though it does have heatpipes and a large chunk of copper.

I don't see this improving as AMD are looking to cut costs. As suggested, consider going aftermarket, even a CM TX3 is a better option than the stock piece of turd you get. I'd use mine as a door stop, but don't want to offend the door with something so terribly and useless.

I'd use mine as base rock for my new driveway - but I don't want to trust my vehicle to something so inadequate.

It's such a poor performing heatsink and so noisy for an enthusiast product. AMD are really cheaping out everywhere.

So are Intel. There stock cooling sucks as well.

Precisely what I was thinking. Their stock coolers are kind of OK for core i3s if you don't OC, but for i5 or i7, forget it. At least AMD actually give you stock coolers for the high end stuff. Intel don't.

FWIW, I have a coolermaster TX3 in my main rig (like the 212, but smaller, with a 92mm fan), and love it. It's quiet and cools well.

Intel stock coolers are fine for stock applications. My 775 is very quiet (copper slug, tall) and it actually helps keep reasonable temps for my overclocked system too.

Newer ones may not be as good. But I'd rate the AMD cooling solution as worse than the Intel.

^ Completely agree. TX3 has got to be the best bang for buck cooler you can get.

AMD stock coolers are 10x better than intel for the retention mechanism alone!
