They are clearly spending a bit of cash on this. I really, really hope it pays off... although, I am likely going to buy it anyway
I must admit, I finding it a bit disconcerting when they spend so much just on a few big names to stick on the back of the box. But that's my only real niggle - so far - with this game. Otherwise...

* It's got the level design of Deus Ex.
* The swordplay of Dark Messiah.
* The randomisation of Hitman.
* A setting that's not Generic Fantasy or Generic Sci-Fi.

It'll probably be GOTY.

It's distinctive, it's bold, it has character. If the mechanics and execution are sound, it should be a hit.

I might have some modest sucess on PC but I'm calling that this will bomb. Bombing especially hard on consoles.

Played Dark Messiah? The sword play, in first person, is actually both interactive, controllable - and fun. Not just "swing, and maybe the sword-swing AI'll decide to let you hit the guy".

Can't wait to pick this up for $10 after it bombs in sales.

It's going to be a great game for people like us, but I foresee it selling terribly. Too much going on for most 'core' gamers.

Agree, I can see it being a bit of a flop in that regard, though an excellent game otherwise. Kinda like the Witcher perhaps when it snuck under the radar initially. Will see!

I don't intend to use a sword.

I don't see it as being a flop at all. Nowhere close infact, even on consoles.

It will obviously not do anywhere near as well as CoD, BF, Skyrim, Gears of War, Mass Effect etc. But I see it doing as well as Dark Souls/Demon Souls or Dragon Age Origins or even Deus Ex HR with a bit of luck.

Published by Bethesda, getting a fair amount of press recently and nowhere near as niche as, say, Paradox games or ARMA. Nah, can't see this one doing badly, fortunately.

I agree with this. It won't compete with COD etc but then again, its not meant to.

I doubt they'll be deterred either way, they've a history of making games that aren't massive successes (in publishers eyes), so as long as they keep making games afterwards, I doubt much will change
