Default Anyone had any luck getting a HD4000 series to run Windows 8?

AMD seem to have dropped support for it, not including it as a supported card for the Windows 8 RC drivers. MS have released drivers over Windows Update, but they seem incomplete -- Adobe CS and other programs don't recognise the card and won't give hardware acceleration or 3D options, though performance in TF2 seems good.

I'm curious to see if anyone else has managed to find a third-party driver that offers better support, or what the usual procedure is in situations like this. Do you just stick with the older OS?

Best bet is to complain to Microsoft and AMD, tell them that you have lost faith in them and you will not buy windows 8 nor an AMD product ever again.

It doesn't have to be the truth but it may get their attention.

Personally, I called Microsoft, lodged a complaint and told them that AMD has cost Microsoft a sale and they may want to have a good chat with AMD about their poor hardware support.

Then I called AMD and told them that I expect more than 4 years support for an $800 graphics card and will never buy their products again. If they decide to do the right thing, I may change my mind.

Enough threats and complaints from enough people and companies do sometimes get the message and change their mind.

If you want to see something happen, email the CEO. Works in my company...

Yeah I don't think their email is that readily available

Brute force complaints are our only option sadly.
