Default Free Palestine rally

Comments and criticisms always welcome. All on a D700+50mm

1)

2)

3)

4) I think a tighter crop would also work on this shot, but I still prefer it wide.

Thanks for looking!

#1 has a lot of promise, maybe a black and white?

If you are interested in protests and stuff I really recommend you check out some of the stuff on the News Photo Journalism Group on Flickr http://www.flickr.com/groups/news__australia/

I'll be honest. To me, the images don't evoke emotions or tell me a story which is what this sort of photography should be. For example, how does #2 fit into it? Been to the scuba mardi gra? The guys in #1 look pretty happy about the whole situation. 3 and 4 are the better of the set, wide is good for some context IMO.

#1 looks like an outdoor concert..
#2 looks homeless/without clue
#3 clichéd protester - that said, about the only one that looks like protesting
#4 waiting for the rock star...

Push 1 and 4 one stop.

Think about this too, if you hadn't told us what these pictures were of how would we know it was about Palestine? You can only just see an obscured banner in the back ground.

P.S Free Palestine.

Without the context of the thread title I wouldn't have had any idea what was going on. If you were going for a photojournalistic angle I'd suggest finding some more ways to establish context. I think it would have been interesting to see #4 with the banners in the plane of best focus, rather than the crowd.

Converted to B&W, added some grain. Whaddya reckon?

I agree with your points about context. I didn't really take many shots with posters and banners clearly seen, my plan was simply to shoot whatever caught my eye. So it kinda became a bunch of random shots.

I'll keep that in mind for the next time. Thanks for your input

Yeh.. It's photo journalism I guess, but the whole rent-a-crowd scene is not my thing
