No, I specifically said Korean style MMO model and acknowledge that most people are familiar with WoW...

Not sure which server the OCAU guild will be planting themselves on but I have joined DOWNUNDER guild and Stormbluff Isle is where we will be going it seems.

TOG will be going to Yak's Bend.

The unofficial Oceanic server though is Sea of Sorrows.

More info here about oceanic guilds (although I am not sure how up to date they are):
Not playing much D3 lately...

But I'm sure going to be playing GW2 I'll check DOWNUNDER

[edit] Just checked, and they're not accepting new members. I'll be playing with 2 or 3 more friends, so I'm sure we'll join the same server

So I understand his WoW clone comment and agree that Guildwars is pretty much a WoW clone, it just depends on how close you analyse the details.
You earlier stated that "Guild Wars 2 is pretty much a WoW clone" because
Quote:
Run around to level 50+ (80 whatever)
Click skill icons to deal damage in 3D style.
Level up in tiny +1 increments, getting gear which is slightly better every level or so.
etc.
It was mentioned that Dungeons and Dragons, Ultima Online, Dark Age of Camelot and many pen and paper/board game RPGs precede most MMORPG games of this generation including World of Warcraft.

We can draw direct ties of many elements in Guild Wars 2 (or any other MMORPG today) from those much loved classics.

So how can Guild Wars 2 be a clone of WoW when all Blizzard has done is refine established ideas and concepts of the fantasy MMORPG genre that has come before it?

The game mechanics you've mentioned are consistent across most first generation and second generation traditional RPGs and MMORPGs regardless of where they are developed, just like the holy trinity of fantasy role playing games, that is "Tank, DPS, Heal" or "Warrior, Ranger/Wizard, Healer". These traits can be tied to the lore in many fantasy novels, Warhammer, the Forgotten Realms, Lord of the Rings, The Hobbit, etc.

The only way your to support your conclusion is to invalidate all development that has come before World of Warcraft and assume that WoW is the beginning and the end of all new MMORPG innovations. I.e. Trollpost.

In other news, stress test tomorrow 5am-9am Sydney time. Time to play World of Troll Wars 2.

I'll let you know when they re-open applications, I think it is only temporarily closed.

Ugh, I said Korean-style MMO clone, merely threw in the WoW clone comment because the previous guy did, as I already said twice.

There's other ways to do a fanstasy MMO and Guild Wars 2 chose a similar path to other popular MMOs, rather than doing something fairly different. Hence clone (of whatever WoW is a clone of).

Find me another MMO without actual quests and where everyone is on an even footing in structured PVP from the first minute you start playing, terrox, and I will be impressed.

Guild wars 1 felt like a Korean and I hated it but trust me guild wars 2 does not feel like a Korean mmo at all. Did you play in any of the beta weekends?

Hell yes! Even if it's scrappy I'll be able to get a bit more time on the Elementalist to be more sure it's the class I want to play.

I feel it needs to be pointed out:

For all those periodically starting the updater to download any updates.... you're just re-downloading all the same files again for the most part. The updater is merely just grabber a newer version of all the files every time you run it.

You're far better off just waiting till a few days before release and doing it.

Just get to 30.

Do it now because the population will flop after Gw2 launches
