Picked up my new sound card today.

The rampage IV has pretty average mosfet cooling if you are watercooling.
Im going to have to pick up some waterblocks for it.

You can set the fan speed, you can even turn it off. It's not audible at all at 50%.

Regarding Gigabyte boards: I've been a huge fan of Gigabyte since my first S775 board way back in the day. Until now, I haven't touched anything but Gigabyte, going to, P35, X38, X48 and X58.

However, after much consideration I made a move to the Asrock Extreme9 with my latest upgrade. I found the Gigabyte X79 lineup to be lacking. The 'standard' boards in the range seem just "OK" and fail to wow. I was planning to get a X79-UD5 but things like the audio chipsets and lack of enthusiast features turned me off it in comparison to the Asrock board.

The real issue is with their gaming grade boards. They insist on slathering fluro-green on everything and worse, cover them in those hideous gun-shaped heatsinks. I have no idea why they decided to stick toy guns on an expensive product aimed toward adults. An example of how to do this better is the Asus Sabertooth series with TUF heatsinks which are still gimmicky but not glary and tacky like the Gigabyte 'G' series. I honestly stuggle to understand what Gigabyte were thinking when they came up with that product range. Even if my case didn't have a window, I couldn't stand knowing that my board looked like it was designed to appeal to a five year old.

Thoughts?

I owned alot of gigabyte they just let you down on little things. My next mobo will be asrock or ASUS, much better to work with. I've built 10+ x79 and z77 with asrock and ASUS and all been great.

Yeah im the same, always been a gigabyte fan but the boards seemed to always be lacking in that small area so i changed to Asrock a while back and loved it ever since. Had a break from the PC shizz and then come back recently to X79 and went with Asus ROG because everyone else was.. Good board but i wanted to return to my favorite of all time so i took a risk and bought the new Extreme 11 and Wooooooooh! Insane is all i can say and the sound OMG!!!!!!!!!!!! Bit expensive but Asrock have really gone all out recently.. Best board iv ever used.
