Just thought i would show a little solution to the strap issue which has been annoying me for a little while.

Like a lot of others the whole rapid/sniper strap system was appealing, but for me it was a pain in the arse to use with a bag because i have a shoulder issue that means i can't carry stuff on my right shoulder for extended periods, and slinging both on the same side is problematic with them overlapping.

While i was in Germany i saw this system which seemed to be the solution: http://www.sun-sniper.com/en/the-strap-surfertm.html
Unfortunately the clasp didn't fit my Thinktank Retro 10 (too thick) or my Crumpler FuxDelux (too wide), and so it didn't work. But it triggered my thoughts, and so i put together this system:

Its pretty basic, just a plain old snap lock climbing carabiner, a 100mm fabric quickdraw, and a 6mm stainless carabiner. It fits into the Black Rapid ConnectRs (which i noticed you can get cheap versions on ebay: http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/110890443...ht_3470wt_1141) and works in a similar way to the Black Rapid system, and its also relatively easy to transfer from bag to bag.

Personally i use it mostly to hang the camera so i can go hands free, but it slides up well enough to take photos with as well.
Probably not for everyone, but it was a decent and cheap enough solution for me that ill keep using it.

For a beginner I think transmission loss/t values probably goes over their heads

If i was then to put on the 1.4 35mm but set its Aperture to 5.6.

Would the same amount of light be coming into the lens as the 18-55?

EDIT: Just another question what is the best aperture for just all round use. heard F8 is recommended?
Shoot at what ever aperture you want to shoot at, There is no best or worst, Different f/stops are used for different shooting situations!

If you don't quite understand f/stops, take a few photos starting from your lowest f/stop ranging to the highest and see what happens to your pictures

Was anyone else trying to redeem their scoopons with Fabness last night? I couldn't get onto their website to use my voucher, and curious if anyone else is in the same boat.

Edit: got it working this morning and it has accepted the voucher. Win.

Their website is wack as fuck (in the way they accept vouchers and shit).... plus I would like to have a preview of the canvas on the order completion page.... the other day when I put one through I forgot what photo I uploaded and freaked the fuck out haha, it's like russian roulette with canvas prints

Also, maybe overly harsh observation, but on the POTN glamour section, it's all a massive fucking circlejerk of 'omg gr8 capture' on photos of unattractive, semi-naked girls that look like the photos belong in camp as fuck 1980s porno mags.

Do not want. Can't unsee. Fuck guiz.

Edit: Also, still trying to decide if I should go for the Lee Big Stopper or the Hitech Pro 10 Stop. Benefits of the Lee, it's Lee so it should be good quality.... benefits of the hitech, it's $30 cheaper, I can have one now instead of 4 months away, it's resin not glass so it's less prone to breakage. Aaahhh fuballs.

I ummed and ached about it for ages. Ended up getting the Hitech, which I'm pretty happy with. Tempted to grab/borrow another Lee one though to see whether the newer batches are any better. My mates one was fairly old.

Yea fair enough. I mean with the discount teamwork are running atm the difference is only like ~$30 (hitech being ~$108 and the big stopper being ~$135)..... just shot them an email to see what the wait time is like, guess thats really the thing that is the deciding factor.

Those with the big stoppers, do you feel like they're that fragile/prone to breaking? That was one argument I read talking about the lee vs hitech/glass vs resin thing.

Yeah, it is one big sheet of glass, and the Lee did feel more fragile than the Hitech. That said you wouldn't want to drop either anyway, they would both break if dropped onto rocks.

Also i got mine second hand for $90, so the difference and immediate availability was a big thing.

Ok. Been planning on getting Sigma 50mm 1.4 to replace the nifty fifty. However in waiting for DWI to get new stock in their price has jumped up significantly with the latest batch.
At the same time the DWI price has dropped significantly.

I note that CRK has a price matching policy but not sure on how to access it. Anyone know what the procedure is?

Always go CRK for sigma lenses. Always.

2 ways
Find best price, send to CRK directly
Or
Find best price, take to your local good retailer, tell them to contact CRK and authorise price match.

You should really try the lens on your body before purchasing a Sigma - DCW is near by and are CRK authorised resellers so 2yr warranty.
