Or just listen to everything from my phone.

Ok just opened up my PC, it's a small Dell desktop, no room for a full size soundcard that's for sure haha.

Fiio E7 would be a better bet if you can stretch. As drubz said, no point in an amp.

Not heard the E7, but if you have crappy PC sound, it's not going to be a backwards step.

May even be an improvement over your phone, which would be bonus.

If you're going that far, then the iBasso at $169 is probably a better bet; DAC + Amp and it has the Recommended sticker.

The DAC is bad and the AMP not much better.

How does a Xonar Essence STX compare to the Xonar Essence One?

apparently quite nice

so since no one could answer my dac questions, i'll probably go with the arcam dac. the odac combo looks good as well, as does the dragonfly, however since im not pairing a highend set of headphones it would be quite pointless imo to overspend on a dac at this point
