Looking at trading out my current setup, caimbridge 540 a, mission bookshelf speakers, and a Yamaha amp, for a powered setup. I'll be keeping my Beresford Caiman, I was wondering, what would be a good trade off, will be needing something I can plug my Beresford into.

Hey everyone,

I bought some Microlab Solo 6c, and I just want to say that I'm impressed with them. They're decent quality, and sound great for the price. I've listened to my friends' setup for about an hour, and he's running a fairly decent setup (I don't have any specs, all I know is that we were listening to Battles - Gloss Drop on vinyl) and the Solo 6cs come close to matching the sound. Obviously not the same, but very good.

They're absolutely massive, and i'm thinking of getting some floor stands, to reclaim some desk space - where would I go about getting some?

I've had the Swan M200MKIIIs for a short while. I think they are pretty good for the price you pay for them. Though I can't say I've ever used them with a DAC or compared them to a non-powered setup.

I think the nearest competition you can have of them is the Aktimate Minis (+).

Ah okay, I'm assuming they have analog ports at the back?
Looking at trading my 2.1 setup out for them.

Hey guys,

Last night my Logitech Z-5500s died. Unless they're miraculously working when I get home tonight (anything is possible, right?), I'm going to need to grab a new set of speakers.

The speakers are used primarily for watching video through my TV, using my HTPC. I game using my Sennheiser PC-370 headphones. I quite like having 5.1 speakers as it works well with the home theatre setup. I'd consider 2.0 or 2.1 but only if it would be significantly better than a 5.1 setup at a similar price.

Should I just grab the Logitech Z906 kit or is there something better available? Budget is up to $600 or so.

Thanks

My 680's died unknowingly to me as i thought the pax drivers disabled the optical port somehow. Then i realized there was no background hissing from the speakers (took about 2 weeks to realize that).

So i got the 906's and i must say it sounds clearer by far, the bass is a bit different sounding to the 680, but nothing that tweaking the levels cant fix, that is about the only thing about this set that you will notice straight away.
There's no background hissing either. The satellites are slightly reclined back so make sure you place them at a level where the sound is directly traveling to. They are also nice and solid satellite speakers.

I like em, 2 digital inputs as well (PC, PS3 for me) and analog inputs (6ch analog, ipod using a headphone to stereo RCA cable, COAX). Got my set for $355. Well worth it, not regretting what happened at all. Like it was meant to be.

What set of speakers should I grab to replace my horrible Logitech z503? Don't think I'll be getting a sound card so I'll be using Sabertooth z77's integrated.

Looking for 2.1 as I don't have room for placement.

Swan M10?

Hey guys -
I currently have a set of Audioengine A2 speakers, plugged into Xonar essence one (over kill, but I mainly listen to music through headphones) But the opportunity to buy a set of Swan M50W has come up. The only reason I would get them is because they come with a subwoofer, rather than buying the Audioengine S8 to go with my A2's..

What I need to ask is - is it worth it? Are the Swan's going to be as good as my A2's? I am mainly concerned about the Swans flimsy 1/8th" jack - like a set of Logitech speakers with a wood-grain finish?

Please let me know, and if you could quote this so I know it's been answered

Cheers,
Komm

Hey I was looking for a set of 2.0 speakers.
Asus xonar STX is the sound card I have.

The audioengine A2 ($219) seem to be the ones that interest me the most, mainly because of the small form factor. As my desk doesn't have all that much space.
Main purpose is music and movies. I'll rip out my headphones for gaming.

Are there any other suggestions out there for roughly the same price? I don't want to go over $250 in fact, anything cheaper than the A2's would probably get preference.

thanks.

$150-$200 you mean?

For everyone looking. I feel that the Hardmon Kardon Soundsticks are pretty underrated in general. I have a pair, aesthetically they are amazing, but they also have a clean clear sound that is worthy of the price.

The A5's didn't impress me for their price.
