Default GTX 580 and 8500 GT in SLI?

Hey guys,

I have been running my GTX 580, and it has been performing very well. I recently added in an 8500 GT, running in SLI; assuming it would improve performance... However I have noticed games not running as smoothly as usual. Have not bothered bench marking because the results would probably be inconclusive.

So, my question:

Will running a good GFX in SLI with a cheap GFX result in reduced performance?

Thanks,
-Dougie

Mate, you can't run those cards in SLI.

SLI needs two of the same model card. So GTX580+GTX580. Otherwise it won't work. You could maybe use the 8500GT as a dedicated PhysX card but it's really not worth it.

Hi, if you want a little more performance check out the info and reviews on your card and overclock it.

Cheers Alan.

At least it was a good thread for a laugh.

Even if you could run them in SLi; SLi makes the slowest card, the primary of the 2 and slows the other down to its speed. A GTX580 would demolish a 8500GT SLi setup.
