They've come down to $340 new, so around $280 for second hand is pretty standard, if you want a good Costa batch though (which we all do), then they'll cost you retail price second hand, maybe even a little more.

Dam still a bit out of my price range at the moment. Stuck in the OC loop got a bunch of cards here to bench and sell but not worth benching them on my amd gear was holding on to them till IVY.

What do the 3570k's bench like?

I've only tested one 3570K and that was because the 3770K's hadn't landed here yet. Was by far my worst chip, 6ghz max LN2 and something like 2400 max IMC. That's sort of been repeated by other benchers, it seems to be harder to find a nice 3570K (not that many people are bothering with them in the first place). Other than that it's your standard 2500k vs 2600k. No HT and less cache.

Might just try loan a cpu for demo and buy as 3770k in October when i can shell out. Another question where do you guys get your dewar's from? All the ones I have seen have insanely high postage.

I'd just be wary of that dude, first LN2 session will be hard, Ivy takes some getting used to on LN2 (I spent the better part of a weekend with Fester figuring out my first cpu), it's not something I would take on infront of a live crowd without knowing my system first. If you can have it a couple of weeks before hand and take it for a spin on LN2 beforehand then you'll be right, but I'd stick within my means if I was doing a live demonstration. IE I wouldn't jump out there vmodding cards and looking like a tool at the end of it because I couldn't pull it off. Just my 2c.

Then of course there's always the issue of killing a loaner cpu.

As for Dewars you just have to sit around and wait for 'luck' to strike really. I got lucky with my 35L dewar, Kayl just happened to be selling his as I was getting into it. Bullant spent ages waiting for a good deal to pop up and eventually got it, keep your eyes out and you might get a deal too. In the mean time you can always rent, most suppliers should be able to sort that out for you.

Hmmm wise words my friend. The more I think about it the more I wonder If I should just snap up a cheap BD or even bench my 975 BE bit more familiar with these. lol.

That sounds like a plan, BD is pretty similar to PHII you just have to screw around with disabling modules/cores (if your board supports it, CHV does at least) and playing around with PSCheck. Again, you will want to get hold of that stuff beforehand, but you can get used to PSCheck (overclocking tool) on air so that's no biggy. And if you have LN2 then there's a good chance you will hit 7ghz or so which is likely to excite the audience.

I've hot a Asus rampage formula that will boot at 590fsb and will do 600+ with some tweaks.
And I have a batch Q820A599 e8600. A quick google will tell you this batch will do 6+ ghz. (it has only been up to 5.4 for a quick test. It hasn't been thrashed at all)
