I got this game yesterday and spent a few hours playing. I love this game. I've always been a fan of rhythm games especially Elite Beat Agents so to have a similar styled game with FF music is just ... awesome

I really like scenic mode, it's fun to watch my chibi character walk past mini versions of notable places in the FF game the music is from. For example in the FF8 map screen music I like how the character walks past a garden, galbadia prison and Fishermans Horizon

Well, just finished Super Mario 3D Land, and picked up New Super Mario Brothers 2, will give that a shot later this evening.

Yea, I'm looking at picking up SMB2 in a few months. I hear it's not as good as Mario 3d, but from the video it looks pretty good to me.

I didn't play the first one, but I prefer side scrolling.

It's pretty sweet but not as engaging as SM3DL. Pick up the latter first, then this

Does anyone here have Dream Drop Distance? is it worth getting? I've played some of the other DS Kingdom Hearts titles and been left very underwhelmed...

358/2 I just couldn't get into. But it wasn't featuring Sora and seemed like just a bunch of mini games so I stopped playing. That and I don't really care about Roxas.

I also got Re:Coded but I found the camera ruined that game for me. it was in such an annoying place all the time and I could never see where I was going so I had to adjust it constantly which was frustrating. I was really hoping Re:coded would be more like Birth by Sleep on the PSP which was the most like the PS2's Kingdom Hearts 1 and 2 and by far the most fun to play as well. Even if it was extremely frustrating and a few bosses made me want to throw my PSP out of anger haha...

so I guess what i'm trying to find out is... is Dream Drop Distance more like Re:coded with frustrating cameras? or is it more like Birth by Sleep and very like their counterparts on the PS2?

The back of my copy says to for European and Australian consoles only.

Hmm, I haven't played the latter, just started playing 3DL last week despite picking this up at launch. I find the stages too short and relatively easy when you have the Raccoon suit.

Spent a 15-30mins on it each day and I am up to world 7 having 3star-ed everything. I can't help but feel it's really short. Made a mistake by grabbing the OSTs, and that gave away some of the spoilers =(

Love the homage it gave to Zelda, and how some stars can only be obtained when you have the right powerups. Also, was surprised how you can get infinite life similar to SMB1 3-1 and SMB2:LL 1-1 by hopping on the shell. Was pleasantly surprised when the counter went pass 99.

White Racoon is way too strong, I guess it's there to help with progression for others struggling.

How does NSMB2 compare to the first one?

3D land gets almost insanely difficult once you unlock the special worlds.

I too thought it was very short and lacked features that i expected from NSMB (penguin suit for example), but it redeems itself on the whole. Alright value for money.

I thought 3D Land went from brilliant to amazing once the special worlds become unlocked. The level layouts made me feel like I was having a continuous conversation with the designers. There's this amazing back and forth where you constantly try to guess what's coming up and the designers try to guess how you will instinctively react. You're constantly forced to change up your play style in order to progress past the obstacles and there is *such* a satisfying feeling when you do. I'd say it's more than alright mate; it's a freaking genius game that merits every cent

They're both terrific though I'd say NSMB2 is more polished. There is obviously a larger emphasis on coins and finding secrets which makes things rather addictive and compels you to explore previously conquered levels. Meanwhile the raccoon tail opens up many alternative paths through stages and there are more star coins hidden in clever harder-to-find places. In addition to that, there's three bonus worlds and some new kinds of stages where Mario is running and your job is to time the jumps correctly. Just like SM3DL, it's a master-class in game design and execution.

In terms of content, would the special worlds count as 50% of the game? I am breezing through the game, almost done with world 7 now. Each world takes 20+mins; with each stage taking around a few minutes. I am enjoying it so far, but I don't want it to end so quickly =(

in 3DL, I like how you could move while squatting, the triple jump is missing, makes it weird to get to the top of the flag if you don't have the Raccoon suit. They also made it such that u need hold B in order to back flip. Wall bounce + tail glide is broken IMO. Actually the gliding makes all the jumping obstacles super easy.

I wish there was a high score system, makes collecting normal coins more worthwhile once you hit max lives.
