I got those.. they work fine.. only issue i have is sometimes i start the PC and don't have any sound at all even though everything seems to be working ok..
I reinstall the drivers, and it's fine again.. until it does it again..
Eventually i'll get a new card, maybe one of the new creative ones.. dunno

or maybe drop back to the onboard:
7.1 CH HD Audio with Content Protection (Realtek ALC892 Audio Codec), THX TruStudio™

eeeyup, thrown mine out as well. Stopped working completely. No sound what so ever. Staying away from any new Creative/Auz product now. Currently using my M-Audio Fast Track Pro as a DAC but I'll probably get a proper External DAC next and stay away from internal audio full stop.

I ended up making the change to a Xonar Essence STX. Nothing is ever smooth when it comes to sound cards. Had to reformat my pc before it even began to recognize the card. Figured I had a lemon until I googled it, seems to be a common problem.

Like I said previously, I basically threw away $10 on the jaycar opamps. They seemingly fixed my card for all of half a day, then all the same symptoms came back.

Just for reference, moving up to an STX compared to the Forte, the change was fairly noticeable. I'm on the unified driver, and the raw sound quality is up quite a bit. It's a little less coloured than the forte. I haven't noticed any significantly bugged games when it comes to surround sound, everything seemed on par with my Forte. One thing I did notice, that with Dolby Headphone vs CMSS visualization for gaming, is that Dolby Headphone deals with height better. This was really obvious playing Prey 2 recently, when you had to find the beeping black boxes, it was incredibly easy to hear exactly where they were, elevation and all.
