Ko Phi Phi, Phuket, Krabi area all has some amazing rock climbing if you're into that.

Krabi was my favourite for climbing, also a fantastic chilled little area with not much going on, and great beaches.

I went in 2003, so I'm not sure how much it's changed since, but I would stay away from Phuket if I had a choice in the matter. Chiang Mai and Pattaya are also great places to visit.

It actually is pretty cool - once you get past the crazy bits, it can be enjoyable. I spent a good few days there and didn't visit Walking Street once.

Much better than Phuket, even in the kitschy areas. People watching was a lot more fun than Phuket. You can also always head to Jomtien if it's getting too much.
