I just don't see that happening. I can't believe I've become one of those people who sit's here with a full fist of pessimism. I feel like the anti-hope.

Even if it did, prices have been rising. And if I was a sales exec, I wouldn't nudge the price on the GTX980Ti just yet. I'd give it a few months and eventually this new tech would just fall into the same price categories but still at a higher premium than the last iteration. nVidia has no real competition so it wouldn't surprise me in the least if this is the tactic they used.

Its an upgrade for the 970 so it should drop into that price range. No use making it the same perf as a 980Ti and asking the same price

prices have been rising
I paid $490 for my 970 from Amazon a year ago, if anything 970 is cheaper now, not dearer.

Sorry. I meant that prices have been rising with each new iteration. At least that's what it's felt like to me. Am I wrong? I don't mind being wrong.

http://www.theverge.com/2012/5/10/30...e-release-date

Nvidia has done the inevitable and trickled its Kepler GPU architecture down to a more wallet-friendly level with the introduction of the US$399 GeForce GTX 670

Not much difference there for an x70 gpu.

http://www.anandtech.com/show/4051/n...ng-in-the-gaps

GTX570 launched at US$349 too.

http://www.anandtech.com/show/2977/n...orth-the-wait-

And GTX470 too, US$349.

That may not last though, AMD have been pretty busy working with studios and prepping for DirectX12 and Vulkan. Plus they're moving to a smaller fab process than Nvidia this time. Of course if they throw HBM2 down the line, their prices may take a hike too, so maybe pessimism is the way to avoid disappointment lol.

I reckon if the AMD offerings are as good as the rumours believe then they will just end up expensive so any performance advantage will be offset by price.

I paid $479 in November 2014. Was a great card. The upgrade to 980 was sort of pointless but I get to run more MSAA in Ultra
