Hi,
My friend's computer is a duron 900Mhz on an Asus A7V-133 motherboard. Ever since he's had it, it's done this weird restart thing. On every second restart, the computer kind of starts up, but doesn't quite get there. The lights come on, and the hard drive spins up, but that's as far as it gets. It just stalls there and stays like it. At that point the reset button has to be pressed and it starts up fine. It happens every second time, like clockwork. So it goes :- Normal startup -> windows -> go to restart -> fail -> hit reset button -> normal startup -> windows -> go to restart -> works ok -> normal start up -> windows -> go to restart -> fail -> hit reset button -> etc, etc. It's really just a pain in the arse. I've had someone suggest it's something to do with the chipset on those motherboards. So far i've tried different RAM, a new power supply, different hard drives. Any ideas? Thanks for any help. |

sounds like maybe you either need a bigger brand name PSU.. or that mobo has dodgy capacitor's that have to be primed so to speak before they will fire...
try just for tryings sake in the BIOS if the options are avail to give the cpu and ram more voltage... doing this wont hurt your pc especially over such a short period of time if it boots first shoot withmore volts then it is more than likely the psu, if it does take note of what the hardware monitor in the bios says temps and voltages are.. if no hardware monitor isntall Mother board monitor 5 ... hmm otheriwise... save your pennies and upgrade. |
