Default A7V8X-X sound help...urgent

i just bought a A7V8X-X and XP2400+

i dont have a sound card so i need to use the on board sound but i cant get it to work. When i go to Sounds and Audio Devices in control panel it says 'No Audio Device'. i tried installing drivers that came on the disk 'AD1980 SoundMAX audio drivers' but when i go to the end of the installation it said 'error: no drivers found! please restart your system and run setup again"

how can i get the onboard sound to work? i have windows xp pro btw

Can anyone help me out please?

thanks

I have the same mobo and I've had no problems. I can't really pinpoint a specific issue although I'm thinking that either your mobo or the drivers cd is screwed. More the CD as opposed to the mobo. Have you tried reinstalling XP followed by the required drivers?

It's still under warranty I'm assuming, so take it back and get it replaced imo. I'd hold out a little though and see if somebody else can help you out.

Good to hear but you might want to post the solution to your problem as there may be somebody else with the same issue.
