Default Issues with a daytona geforce fx 5200

Hi, having trouble with a Palti-daytona geforce fx 5200 128mb. Windows when installed windows (XP pro sp1) only starts in 640*480 + 4 bit colour mode. I get a no resources available (code 12) error in the cards properties (from device manager). My old Asus Geforce2 MX-400 works fine.

My system:
AMD 2600+ (not over clocked)
Gigabyte SiS748 - M/B
512MB - ram
400W PSU
Nvidia 53.03 geforce drivers
SiS 16a drivers

I have googled my fingers off, with no conclusive results.

Any ideas?

Thanks

Just reinstalled xp + still same problem.

I am thinking that mainboard is a dud. I might take my system to the shop and let the 'experts' solve it.

ITS fixed (:

The problem was my network card. When I removed it all was good.

Strange, it worked fine for a while then spacked it.

Anyway all is well now. Expect no network ):

I dont know. But that network card was over 6 years old. I figure this serves me right for using such an old card. Its time to buy a new one.

Thank god I fixed this problem my self. I almost had to swallow my pride and take my shiny new self built box to the 'experts'. -- Lucky (:

i'd try putting the network card in another pci slot actually.

it sounds like when you installed the new video card that windows reset the plug and play bios, reassigned interrupts, and as a result created a conflict with your agp slot and the pci slot the network card was using.

as a rule of thumb, i try to keep the slot next to the video card, and 2nd from the bottom free - these are known trouble spots (:

I finally got around to trying a different pci slot. I tried the middle one, XP did not detect the card and I could not find it the the device manager. When cold starting the pc again (card in the same slot) nothing happened. No hard disk start up, no monitor, only the power light worked. I removed the network card and everything is fine. That card is trouble. I am going to ditch it and buy a new one.
