Default Ways to show 3D things in a web browser

I'm trying to find out the various ways of showing a 3D animated object in a web browser.
I was thinking of using Java 3D although i'm interested in investigating alternatives (can flash do 3d?) as Java3D seems good only for simple things.
Has anyone has any experience doing this?

Macromedia Shockwave has very good 3d capabilities (if you are willing to learn it).

Depends who exactly you want to show3d things!
Swift 3D is a addition to Flash that creates 3D flash movies, ie to integrate into the design of a webpage.
Quicktime VR is a simple way of letting others view your 3D models inside a browser.
VRML provides coding to create interative 3D worlds.

i used to use vrml to do this, and would have moved to the blender plugin but i'm not sure if the plugin is around anymore.

ill put in another vote for shockwave 3d. you can do some stuff pretty easily with just importing 3d models into director and applying behaviours, you dont need to learn much actual scripting. to do basic stuff at least ..
