I'm going to try and hold it out for as long as i can on my 9800pro. It seems to be playing HL2 okay so that's reassuring but CS: Source is a different story If i only play CS: Source, i reckon i can make it till 2006 on this card While i would really want a nice and juicy V9999GT or 6800GT, i have to collect my funds so i can get an R520 and other things in Q1 2006 - namely a dual core CPU if AMD stick to their roadmap

The people on Whirlpool who pretend that they know things about computers really gives me the shites. I can't even get aggresive because then the moderaters will close anything that's reported by any user.

Cs:sourse's problems have nothing to do with your card, it's got it's bugs and tends to hate having anything running in the background. I get fair bit of choke (not lag, almost always have sub 40 pings) in that game, seems like it's the graphics card but I'm certain it's not, besides hl2 looks like it would requires some more video processing than CS:S and as you said, it runs fine.

Thanks for the reassuring, AEKaBeer :-) I actually didn't know that it was CS: Source's fault, i always thought it was a strain on my CPU (2600+ t-bred @ 2200MHz) or my 9800. I hope it's not my CPU.

I wonder how well a 9800 or a 6800 will play S.T.A.L.K.E.R. They did mention that the game was intended for people who regularly upgrade their hardware, but I think a V9999GT should be able to handle it great.

Anyone want to reply to the thread in Whirlpool in which the retard made his comment? Did he know he claimed he is a computer technician? That's seriously funny stuff

Not that funny, 50% of the comp techs I know still think all amd cpu's are shit, that the 9800XT is the fastest video chip on the planet, and that anyone who bothers with any sound beyond onboard sound (they don't know what sound storm is, so I'm not giving them credit for that) or a vibra 32 pci is an idiot because (you're going to love this) "It's all gonna sound the same anyway, they just want the free games".

i'm in same position... i had the hcance to sell my 9800 pro, but decided i wouldn't... i don't think it's worth changing cards for this generation at least... everythign runs fine anyway... albeit in worst case scenarios have ot use 1024x768 @ no FSAA

Sorry I don't have the compare links at the moment, I'll get 'em later (also, scores are 'off the top of my head', so they're really probably a few points either way).

I heard about the unfortunate death of your 9800pro . So what's going on now? Will you be getting the tempting 6600GT or the very nice V9999GT?

*****IGNORE*****
Right now, I wouldn't even consider the 6600GT. i-tech is selling the Albatron 6800 vanilla for $315, and macotechnology is selling that for $305.
*****IGNORE*****

EDIT: New information shows that those products are not available.

I've only heard good things about the BFG 6800OC.

I was sure there is a thread about it somewhere.

Apparently they won't have stock until after christmas and i-Tech have removed the said item from their website. Also, see this thread.

has anybody tried replacing the asus cooler with a artic silence cooler?
they wont fit because of the asus board using a non-reference design
you will have to find an aftermarket cooler which has a three pin power connector onto the video card.
