Default fan rpm monitoring right?

i purchased two of these fans from coolpc:

SUNON 80mm fan, 12V, KD1208PTB1-6A/PTB2, ball bearing, 3200rpm, 42.5cfm, 37dbA, 3-pin mobo connector with rpm monitoring

it says 3200rpm, but they are reporting as running at 5000rpm (roughly) in asus probe and motherboard monitor 5. only one fan header gives a reading, the other doesnt (tried with other fan) but they both work.

its weird.. any ideas?
