Do Athlon64 CPUS consume much power?
I believe im having issues relating to my stem being underpowered and am curious to know if i upgraded to a newer core (venice, sandie etc) it may help things? I have a 130nm core at the moment

They consume less power than the equivalent Newcastle core, but it's not a huge difference (10 - 20w). If the PSU can't cope with a Newcastle, it's unlikely to do any better with a Venice. A much better option would be to just replace the PSU.

What is the system at the moment? If it's S754, you can really only upgrade to a Sempron (which is more of a downgrade). On S939, the minimum CPU you could have at the moment is a 3500+ (everything below that is 90nm and has always been). Going to a 90nm 3500+ would help a bit, but I'd still be inclined to look for other causes for the problems.

i was thinking about going to an x2 3800+ to be honest. haha
now that i think about it. That would probabley require MORE power than the current CPU.
