Default Tyan Owners Club!

Another owners club!

TYAN Owners Club

I figured this was quite useful for Tyan motherboard owners as there seems to be a fair amount of driver problems and conflicts, so this would help Tyan owners discover other OCAU members running similar hardware.
Tyan motherboards are regarded as the most reliable server based platform for a vast multitude of applications, supporting Intel and AMD architecture.

002 - Thunder K8WE w/U320.

I *still* feel sore about the amount it cost me and the lack of option roms I can run... but it's stable and fast - and does everything else I want it to do (says a lot).

There must be more than 4 Tyan owners!

herman444 - Have you retrieved your model number?

I'd like #146 ...

DavidRa | Thunder K8S Pro (S2882) ... with dual Opt 246; got it so I could go dual core right about now and the damn board won't allow it (anyone know why not - ie is it physical problem (power) or BIOS problem (no boot), or is it just that the board will not say "Opteron 285 Dual Core Beasty Goodness" on boot?)

I didn't think the K8S Pro supported dual core processors unfortunately.

Yeah - got it 2 years ago before the DC processors were available, based on AMD's promise that DC was just a BIOS upgrade away.

Now I see that Tyan are accused of not meeting AMD specs for power delivery which is why the board will not support dual core (and there is a 2882-D revision).

I had the K8SD Pro which infiltraitor bought off me - it is dual core ready, it was one of the first things I checked.
If you're looking for an upgrade board, have a look over here -> http://www.tyan.com/products/html/opteron.html
