If you are persistent you WILL get the response you want.
If you buy an accessory afterwards like an extra HDD I would still expect 12 months warranty on it as a consumer electronic device.

Fully agree, I reckon you need to try pushing harder. This situation sucks and you need to push them to comply with your rights as a cosumer, which I'm sure must be 12months warranty for ALL electrical goods, accessory or not. 90 days, what a joke.
