Don't stress about it too much. After a little while this will happen.

Anaphalaxis is an allergic reaction. You can't contract it. However, the more you're bitten by this spider, the worse your symptoms will get.

I doubt it was a wolf spider, but I've never seen an infant wolf spider. The Archaearanea veruculata looks promising.

Unless it was a Funnel Web or Red Back you will be fine.

If not it is anaphylaxis or whatever.. and you will/will not be dead within 2 hours anyway.

Didn't anyone read books about venomous spiders as a child?

Definitely not a wolf spider but when we restart harvest late this week I'll get some proper high-res shots of the guys that look very similar.

I honestly just used the word 'contract', not knowing that it was misused in that way.

This is the exact reason why I didn't post at the start of the thread 'omg omg I've been poisoned & am going to die! This will be the last thread ever! Please make me feel important so I can die humbly!' The purpose of the thread was & still is to identify the species. Black spiders are the real worry where we live. Most browns are relatively harmless.

Toowoomba get quite a few funnel webs but they are very uncommon west of the range. No mouse spiders out our way either, but redbacks are very thick out here. I have a photo somewhere of more than 200 baby reds running all over a piece of irrigation hose that'll make anyone nauseous. It's a hard copy that'll need scanning so it may not come out well.

In a cotton field in south-eastern Queensland, the spider species Cheiracanthium mordax L. Koch (diversum L. Koch), Archaearanea veruculata (Urquhart) and Lycosa sp. were equally distributed in the outer, middle and inner portions. However, A. veruculata was more abundant in the western side of the field late in the season, apparently in response to a more favourable habitat. In sampling, the variance was greater than the mean and overdispersion was apparent. C. mordax and A. veruculata were most abundant in the top one-third of plants, and Oxyopes mundulus L. Koch was evenly distributed over plants. The consistency with which these spiders were recorded in levels of vertical strata was enhanced by the formation of the crop canopy, and the eventual vertical distribution of C. mordax was apparently influenced by rainfall. Among crop spacings, most spiders of 4 species preferred the highest density (12 plants/m). The ecological consequences of the distribution characteristics are discussed in relation to current sequential decision plans for the management of cotton pests and beneficial species in the region.

Spiders mentioned above:

Cheiracanthium mordax L. Koch

Archaearanea veruculata (Urquhart)

Lycosa sp.
It's close to the Archaearanea Veruculata but the body isn't quite that large compared to its legs. Perhaps it's yet another crossbreed or is a different sex.

The population of critters have been quite low the last couple of days thanks to the low humidity and it's getting harder to find them (actually have to look around for them now). I should've taken shots last year when they were in the hundreds. We'll see what happens in the final days. Only a week left & it'll all be finished for the year. In 3 days there's one day & next Tuesday we'll pick the last of it, so only 2-3 working days left.

The worst spiders to be bitten by, in my opinion, are funnel webs and mouse spiders. You also treat their bites very differently than how you treat other spider bites (unless an allergic reaction was a result).
