Well UNI holidays are here and i need an excuse to spend some more so here it is. PROJECT: UV - SMACK01
Ingredients: ![]() 2x 30cm UV Cold Cathodes (Kit included CC, inverter, molex connection, switch and drill template for switch) - www.customcases.com.au - $16 each 3x Fluro Paint (Yellow/Orange/Green) - ECKERSLEYS 91-93 Edward St Brisbane - $2.30 per 75ml Tube 1x 1.2m Heat Shrink - Tandy - $6 1x Small Cable Ties - Tandy $2 1x 1m 6/11mm UV Reactive Orange Cable Sleeving - www.coolpc.com.au - $3 3x 1m 10/16mm UV Reactive Orange Cable Sleeving - www.coolpc.com.au - $4 per meter 3x Fluro Pens - Office Works - $5 1x Cable & Wire Holder - Found In Garage 1x Paint Brush - Found In Garage 1x Roll of Metallic Gift Wrap - $5.95 - Kmart PLAN: Depending on how much my current LED fans take away from the UV glow i might invest in some UV fans. Also planning to get some decent UV Reactive Rounded Cables but doing some more research into which glow best at the moment. Got great plans for my case. I have 4 months of UNI holidays so thats alot of time I have on my hands. Cant reveal all my plans at the moment but i will keep updating as i go. PICS: ![]() Painted 80mm fan grills. ![]() Little name tag on bottom of case. ![]() Well i finally got the PSU sleeved up and it looks sweet as. Definatly worth the trouble. Put it all back together and here is what it looks like without the painting done yet. ![]() Could be bothered finding a place that would cut a mirror down to size for the bottom of my case so i went to Kmart and bought some Metallic Gift wrap and wrapped up some cardboard to get the same effect. ![]() My painted Soundcard and LAN card. I think ill have to put in a 80cm UV CC fan on my side panel to get just that little extra glow. ![]() First layer of UV paint on motherboard and PCI cards nearly complete. Probably 2 more layers to go....depends how well the next layer comes out. Click to view full-sized image! Latest Update 25/02/04 Feel free to post any tips you may have or any ideas on what things i should do. Cheers, Smack01

very nice, particularly the sleeving - looks tres Tron! Does the heatshrink react under the uv? I'm impressed at what you're getting from the fluro paints - I always assumed UV reactive paints were a special type of paint, not just bog-standard fluro. No, I haven't read either of the ten threads in the last week about UV paints. Looking forward to how this one turns out - considering doing the same thing in my box. Though I might recover from the mod I'm finishing now first - window, molex leds, white tape on power wires (ghetto sleeving), sides and bezel sprayed hammertone ice blue, Bezel hardware, faceplates an buttons sprayed primary blue. It's taken a bloody long time, I've had to keep sanding and spraying the buggers - If you try this, use vinyl dye for the plastic stuff, not standard spraypaint.
/hijack g'luck EDIT: BTW, BIG kudos to Eckersley's art stores. I use their Sydney (York st, behind QVB) store for everything arty I buy, paint, brushes, latex etc (no sniggering in the back). Big range, and the staff all seem to know what they're talking about. Not sure about the price, can be slightly more expensive than some of the other places, oxford art for example, but It's very much hassle free.

I make foam/latex weapons for a Live Role Playing thing I do. We make some fairly realistic looking weapons and go out into national parks and basically beat the snot out of each other with them for a weekend, along with spell-casting and mead drinking and zombie slaying - all that fun role-playing stuff. I haven't got any real links or pics atm, but this has a pretty good shot of it, along with the rules
sorry, hijack again. I'll take it out if you ask me to

Just a question. How do you get the cable sleeving over the molex connector? or do you need to take the connector off to do so?
