using a primer and a sealant will make the job look that much better and protect it from scratches.
with a little patience you can do great things i suggest you follow this excellent gudie to getting a mirror finish http://linear1.org/gm/archives/00000157.php |

your meant to put primer on before the paint or do you mean the clear spray stuff to seal it. |

I'm about to start spraying my case tomorrow, I've sanded the case down, I'm going to put Etching Primer on the case first, then put 4 thin layers the paint, then clear stuff at the end... and maybe get some rubbing compound to give the case that "professional" look
Got the paints at my local autobarn.

Primer makes the Paint stick to the surface.
Clearcoat you spray on after you paint it your final cover, which will make it shiny (if you didn't get a gloss) and protect it a little bit. |

For matt black i would recomend KillRust sprays over anything ecept plastic and no priming necessary...only other thing i would do is put 1 or 2 coats of clear gloss over the top to give it a bit of a shine. DO NOT USE ON PLASTIC BEZALS

I used el-cheapo stuff from The Warehouse. Two coats...probally could've come out better. I might use some better stuff on my new case

doesn't using gloss kind of defeat the purpose of painting a case with a matte finish?
EDIT: sorry, i didn't see the last bit of cypher's post. lol

thnx, i was really gonna go overboard and try to get a metallic yellow/gold anodized effect, but i think that would have been a bit too much. And i decided that black would really emphasise what IS yellow in my case ![]() i like how ya got that sheet metal (or imitation sheet metal) layd across your case, looks sweet, love the green glow below the fron too. A+ work |
