Default Sapphire VIVO X800 to XT Softmod

Yes!! http://www.rage3d.com/board/showthread.php?t=33766704

and i just successfully did it. ati tool showing 16 pipes very easy to do just download the file at bottom of post and make boot disk with the files from the .exe then when u boot with that disk just type gvf11 -p r80x256v.f1 -f and all should be sweet. From what ive read ONLY VIVO pros can do it with 1.6RAM and with NO LASER CUT. Me so happy

Brilliant find!! - Very excited about this.

When I first bought my card, even though there was no laser cut, i still drew a conductive line between the two points.... naturally it didn't unlock the pipes (but i was determined at the time) ..... i've since left the conductive line there... would it be advisable to clean it off before attempting this mod or won't it make a scrap of diff?

now before i go all guns'a'blazin and flash my precious... some peace'o'mind would be to either a) extract my current BIOS from the card into a file (if possible?) or b) obtain a "Sapphire X800 Pro VIVO" BIOS off the web somewhere beforehand... any idea on how to go about this?

Are you using ati tool? in the misc. tab(i think) there is a dump bios option. just click that and it will put it into your atitool folder . thats what i did just in case and i think it was like 56kb or somethin. me gotta go to bed(start work at 3am) but hopefully by tommorow some1 else will have 16 pipes of goodness.

yep, it worked - cheers man.. 16 pipes here.

The only real pain in the arse with my card is that it is a dismal overclocker.. ATI Tool spits the dummy with a core of anything over 510mhz, meaning that when i flashed to the XT bios, i had to instantly drop the core speed to that for it to stay stable. Mem however does 570ish mhz, but even that isn't anything special given the 1.6ns ram it has on board.

These 16 pipelines are a very nice treat though!

Just flashed my Sapphire VIVO X800pro with gigabyte bios. It is detected as Radeon X800XT Platinum Edition. ATI tool reports 16 pipelines too. Haven't done any testing yet. I'm pretty happy here.

hmm ok when i first flashed mine, and rebooted i had to reinstall the drivers. the drivers that came with the x800pro are 4.4 and wont install and have a memory error in the ikernal.exe , the 4.5 (i just have the driver and control panel as two exes) say theres no video .inf file (i think because i need to install the full install off the cd) i tried to flash back to the original bios with flashrom but that was very messed up , ati tool reported default settings of 0mhz core 670mhz memory. anyone got any suggestions that doesnt involve buying a new card
