Hey guys,
This is my first post on these forums but I've been lurking here for about a year or so. Actually it feels odd that it's taken me this long to get around to posting but my account was "stuck" (couldn't post) and that's only just been resolved - but moving on: I've had a fair amount of success modding my Zalman Reserator system. I posted a reasonably detailed article with pics of the setup and lists of results over at SilentPCReview which I thought some of you fellas might be interested in reading. Here's a link to the article, you don't need to register there to view it: Bosk's Zalman Reserator modding results with pics Hope you find it interesting, feel free to post here or PM me with any questions you might have regarding the setup or results. Cheers, Bosk.

Thanks XploiT & ArcTan
![]() As for the temps, I suspect that your 2400+ generates 20W or so less heat than my 2.8C, and as I mentioned in the article my IC7-G tends to report CPU temps up to 10C higher than other P4 boards which can make comparing temps pretty difficult particularly from AMD to Intel. Overall I'm pretty happy with the results though I do reckon that Reserator is at it's best when cooling just a CPU, even with all the mods I've done.

Nice simple mods, screwing the brass barbs into the anodised reserator/block didn't do any damage to the anodisation did it?
It would be interesting to see temps with a desk fan pointed at reserator to see if any significant temp drops. cheers |

Not that I noticed, though I've noticed every time I empty/refill the system the coolant has a slightly blue tinge and there always seems to be some blueish dust sticking to the walls of the Reserator itself. This isn't related to the brass barbs but I've heard of other Reserator owners experiencing similar and it does concern me somewhat.

not sure if anyone's tried this, but why not get a piece of pipe that fits over the res part(snugly) and mount a quiet 80mm fan on top, thus drawing cool air from the bottom to the top, I would think this should work quite well.
hopefully someone will give it a try and see how it goes

if you use clear pipe it shouldn't detract from the view too much

It would look very sexy with a dark tinted acrylic tube with a nicely painted 120 on top...
or just a clear tube with a polished alu 120. |

i would have to agree, get a fan that is silent and that has a bit of bling about it, some clear pipe, or tinted acrylic and give this mod a shot,
I reckon that your temps should drop dramatically as there would be airflow over most if not all of the "radiator" (are you supposed to call the big tall thing a radiator??) anyways, Great job bosk, good to see people actually having a go at fixing something, rather than just whinging because it doesnt preform as they had hoped it would.. Top work indeed, and quite the informative guide too, Cheers.

Nicely done. I've been tossing around a similar idea so I can use my cascade with it and an MCP600 so I don't have to worry about turning the pump on and off.
