it's a well know problem with abit boards.
apprently, if you want lots of ram and need some stablity, you should only use the 1st and 3rd slots. or bank 0,1 and 4,5 if you prefer to look at is that way. of course i'm assuming that you're using the same type of ram in all 3 slots

When i had my bp6 i had 3x kingmax 128meg pc133's in it. ran fine. But i have read on bp6.com etc. that it can be unstable with 3 sticks of ram.
Regards

yeah, but most extreme overclockers will tell you that running all 3 slots is a bad idea on BP6

M0r4h3us, read back in the news archive, and you will see that exactly the same thing happened to Odin (the server bringing this page to you) when Agg tried installing more RAM in it earlier in the year in preparation for the forums.

Dual 400 Celeron, Bp6, 3 sticks of ram
Stable as- yes, I havent overclocked it which would make potential memory based instability worse, but so far I havent had any problems whatsoever. (I will o/c it when I finish cooling it..) http://www.overclockers.com.au/pcdb/...ver&page=stats Monki |

I'm running 2x256 and 1x128 meg on my bp6 dual c 500's and runs pretty well much stable, excepting when the hpt366 gives out and freebsd has a hard disk trying to reset a ata channel, server go down /me waits for 180gig to fsck

Ive had 3 sticks running fine and dandy for about a year, they are 3 dif types, 3 dif sizes. running at 83MHz. Ive changed types and sizes and positions and they are all working fine. All running CAS2 etc etc.
I dunno what the fuss is about. i currently have a hyandai 256MB stick, infieon 128Mb Stick and a PQI bodgey 256MB Stick. its all good. |

I've currently got 3 sticks of ram running my my BP6 w/celery 366's @ 550 default voltage, not experiencing any types of stability problems. All the ram is yum-cha, w/a 256Mb stick in first dimm, and 2 x 64Mb sticks in the other 2 dimms, equalling 384Mb in total. All ram is PC133 3-3-3 default timing, and runs at 100Mhz 2-3-3. I'm running WinXP. What kind of stability problems have you been having??
