Default best dets for GF3??

ok i've just re-install XP and whacked in the 21.83 dets recommended by Creative and a few others. 3dMark result? crap. I get less than 6000 and I've got my speed at 240/555 (can go higher but i like the number).
I previously got around 7500 with a less aggressive o/c.

question is. what dets should i use for the GF3?

Trial and error dude thats the only way to find out wich det's work for you best

When I had my gf3 ti 200 27.42 worked for me best from memory

But there is a combination of different things that work for some but not others.

GF3 range I swear by the 23.12 drivers. The latter ones really only benefit the GF4 range....but someone is free to prove me wrong...

I don't have gf3 anymore but I have found the original drivers that comes with GF3 have tend to work the best for the 3 gf3 cards i tested + with 29.42s which found to be more stable at overclocked settings

..may be cereal can try 23.12 and let us know

was it default settings or oc..since drivers react differently when the vd is oc and when it is run at default values

29.42 for gf4 runs better than 28.32 for oc settings but otherway around for default values..cannot remmeber the exact scores with gf3 though..it has been a while

hmmm interesting, cant say ive seen this before on my machine but everyones machine is different to mine so who knows what happens on other machines...

It certainly doesnt sound out of the ordinary as we are talking about computers here
hehehehehe

I received a bit beter performance on a standard GF3 with the 29.42s over the 21.83s I used to run. Stability wise hasn't been a problem as yet either.

that is correct we r talking about computers here

when oc the dll files of different driver versions react differently depending on the setup of the system and sometimes they fail to load when vd is oc as opposed to the relaxed settings resulting in different scores with different versions...

but having said this as you said the setup is different for every system so it might not be the same for everyone...hit and trial method

A little while ago I read a comparison of detonators on a GeForce3 ("classic" like mine)...and the conclusion - which I can confirm from experience - was that the 22.80s and 23.12s were indeed the fastest of the lot (overclocked or not).

Ever since those drivers I've steadily lost 3DMarks, although I have to admit the graphics quality has been improving and I don't mind losing a couple hundred points if everything looks much nicer.

Remember the new dets have certain features which make them more desirable over the old ones, such as:

- Digital Vibrance being applied in-game - some older dets didn't apply your DV setting to games, only the desktop
- Bug fixes for the latest games
- Better performance with Anisotropic Filtering
- Improved graphics quality
- Improved brightness in some OpenGL-based games
