Default Galaxy S4 & Google Accounts

Not sure how it all works so hopefully someone can steer me in the right direction.

My wife has an S4, I have a Note 5.

She 'inherited' the S4 from me, and I believe that it was/still is linked to a Google Play account in my name.

This is, I think, the cause behind some major issues where she installed programs that were already on my account on my Note5 - it made several on the Note5 no longer work even after she uninstalled them.

Now I was under the impression you could run several devices through a single Play account - but perhaps not.

What I want to do is:
1. Set up a Google Play account in her name
2. Dis-associate my Google Play account with the S4 device
3. Download and install whatever programs she needs, via HER Play account.

Now in case it matters - she will be running BlueMail and have access to all our various email accounts. How Samsung treats this, and whether it is relevant to this scenario I have no idea, but I thought I'd better mention it.

If anyone can steer me in the right direction, that'd be great.

make sure you factory reset before handing over the device.

create a new google account for each user.

you can absolutely use the same account across devices, however you will run into issues using the same account for different users.

Yeah that's the thing I gave her my S4 without doing a factory reset or anything. I want to be able to do a 'fresh' setup for her but not lose any of her contacts etc, but to then be on her own account of her own rather than my account.

Having read the google stuff I am more confused - is there a difference between:
a google play account
a google account
a gmail address
?

In any event it does appear she has a google play account (her apps list is different).
Must be some cross-over happening though or the issues I mentioned in the OP wouldn't be happening surely.

Is it possible to have apps on one device installed from a number of different PLAY accounts?

What program is best for backing up Samsung Galaxy phone settings, contacts etc to PC and later being able to restore them?

one google account covers all google services.

use the google applications and all settings and data will be backed up.

samsung apps are generally garbage - use the google equivalent.
