1. Visit W&A in Melbourne for Laphroaig tasting
2. Taste amazing new release cask strength 10yo
3. Already Friend of Laphroaig, receive email alerting to future sale of CS 10yo
4. Big day arrives. Spend 2 straight hours F5'ing the site to try to complete purchase of whisky.
5. Eventually believe I have paid for it, $117inc shipping.
6. Await 10 days to receive any email saying I have placed the order, only going off bank statement saying I'd paid.
7. Receive shipping notification, DHL shipping arrives to Melbourne.
8. Wait 4 days to find out if they're checking it, and how much it'll be.
9. Finally asked to call them! to organise payment of duty.
10. Duty is $84 for one bottle. Oh, and of course there's a credit card charge.

Ugh the bottle is going to cost $203.

Remind me to literally never open it.

Not to mention DHL charges you their "handling fee" and rips you 40$ for just a couple of emails, they love their special charges

Customs value = $117
+ 5% duty = $5.85
+ excise @ $82.76 per litre of alcohol = 0.7 * 0.56 * 82.76 = $32.44
= $167 + 10% GST = $183.70

So that's $66.70 in entirely predictable import fees, plus whatever bullshit DHL put on top of that.

Let me get this straight, you want me to turn it into regular Laphroaig 10yo?
