Looking at the home button, it seems to be capacitive instead of a physical pushbutton. So that's a plus.

Not quite entry level. It has full HD, a good camera, decent RAM, and generous storage. Overall, it would be an upgrade from my One Max.

Yeah but I meant the phones themselves. The Lumia 800 and 900 were quite "underspecced" compared to other phones at release (not that it mattered as WP shat all over Android and iOS of the time when it came to hardware resource requirements) but it was more the build quality and the entire thing was exciting. Just having fast hardware doesn't make it exciting, and neither does price.

You are right about that.

Nokia made polycarbonate cool before it was cool, and introduced bold splashes of colour at a time when everyone else was playing it safe with phone design. The look and feel of the Lumia series had that unique Nokia quality that I've missed ever since I finally retired my N97 Mini.

I assume the OS also had a lot to do with it - I still maintain that one of the best phones ever made was the HTC One M8 - After it had the One W8 ROM flashed onto it.

The One W8 was an absolutely phenomenal phone, almost 3 days battery life when people were used to 8 hours battery life from the exact same M8 hardware...

Very true. The new Nokias come with pure Android, which is a big drawcard for me. It's a feature you'd expect from a higher tier phone. Also, dual speakers: that's not a budget phone feature either.

I like a Windows phone, but I've had Android (many kinds) and Apple (4S). No real problems with any of them really, given I've never fucked rooted a phone, and my need for 'apps' is zero. Some of the Androids, and the 4S, had totally crap cameras, and the iPhone4/S were the first demonstration to the world of why it's a really bad idea to have glass front and backs on a phone.

I currently use a Nokia 830 and wifey has a 640. I am disappointed with the quality, both phones have had various issues, although the bodies are still rocking really well. I think the build quality is there, but the electronic design/implementation fails them.

I like Nokia's, being a Windows phone was a plus but the real reason I bought both phones was the brand name. I also like a nice camera, which Nokia's generally have.

If the new ones live up to their promise, and I'll wait a few months to see if any issues start being reported, I'll happily switch back to Android. Especially at that price point.. that Nokia 6 may not be the fanciest or fastest phone on the market but at that price it ticks a lot of boxes for me. The lack of any bloat is an absolute winner too.

A non removable battery is the only minus I can see.

Question

Is there anywhere local that's selling these things in a shop, so I can get some hands on experience?

Nope, from ebay. No way I'd pay (or let her pay) $399 for the 32gb/3gb version

This one - http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Brand-New...72.m2749.l2649

$339 after 20% off. There is a cheaper one there but the feedback for that seller is shit
