Not ditching.. yet. I'd already ordered the ASUS some time ago.

and no, I can't find SMT switch in BIOS anywhere! BIOS is all-round pretty crap, and it takes ages to post.. I know all manufactures did not get enough time to sort there lineup of boards in time for launch, so can't really criticize it , since many mfg boards have issues atm.. will see how updates go.

I am so impressed with this new AMD chip. I'm just waiting on software to catch up as I find a lot of games peg out only one core. Early adopter pain.

I picked up my pre-order a few days ago - AMD 1800X and a Gigabyte Gaming 5 motherboard. Coupled it with 2x16GB of 2400MHz memory it runs happily on a H110i with 2x ML140 fans @ 4ghz on 1.35v. Top temp in ambient 25 degree on prime95 blend core temp is 80 degrees. Love it.

we are waiting on updates for temp monitors as its not 100% accurate from early reports. Unless im mistaken. Id love to get my hands on Ryzen though! been on intel since way back when.

Interesting! I did notice when playing with air coolers you hit 90 and instant reset.

HAHA thats probably more like the sensor from the BIOS is not reading the temp properly and its set to instant restart at that limit as a safety precaution. I bet within two weeks a lot of these issues are sorted.

I'm hopeful it only gets better and better. There's still so many niggles on other boards / ram combos. That said, I can't contain my joy at team red finally throwing a few punches at intel and landing them.

CPU-Z top 15 overclocks for the 1700. Interesting the B350 is on there.

yeah man they all overclock around the same, only diff is the I/O from what i can see. Unless X370 has significantly more phase and OC tools.

Username - Model - DateCode/Batch - Stock (P0*) VID - Motherboard - RAM - Frequency - Vcore - Cooling - Stabilty (hrs)

Sgt Bilko - Ryzen 7 1700x - UA1705SUT (China) - No Idea - Crosshair VI Hero - Corsair Vengeance LED 3200 c16 currently at 2666 16-16-16-38-1T - 3.9Ghz - 1.387v - EK Predator 360 - AIDA64 CPU, Cache, FPU, Memory stress test for 4 hours.

I'm thinking about an 1800x just for the guaranteed clocks so we'll see

Well, that didn't last long haha. The board reset during gaming and now won't detect the NVME SSD. Tried another one. No detection either. The HDD led is blinking short long repeat. Besides the nvme not working it seems to work fine. this error code is rather ominous. I am wondering if the chip or board is at fault. Need to bin one and replace the other (warranty bin that is).

mAJORD - what do you think about adding a benchmark score to the results for an extra level of comparison? Its good to compare efficiency too and it may help others with their ram and clock choices. Eg Cinebench or FS physics or what ever you like to use.

it will be the board seems like the same type issue ncrypt is having what brand of drive?
problem is it is what 5 days old so there is not much data to compare for problems.
I think it may be a bios issue and after doing a quick search nvme drives seem to have issues on all platforms(from the little i looked admittedly )
as for benches i want real bench i love that thing and it is a very nice stability tester

Did a little overclocking last nite, have my 1800x stable at 4.0Ghz last nite

pushed to 4.1 and 4.2 and have it booting, but havnt been able to get stable yet.

ill post batch up soon, need to dig the box out (i have an old TT Armour Box, which has all my computer parts boxes in, cpu box is at the bottom, its like bloody tetris!)

On this (Very neat) little Spire cooler, this is about all i'd want to push out of this setup. With a better cooler.. maybe a bit more, but the light-weight VRM on this $170 mobo really isn't made for punishment. Nonetheless, pretty mind boggling perf /$!!

Tomorrow I'll play with the individual core clocking of Ryzen Master, try and push memory clocks and throw an EVO 212 on to see what more can be pushed out of it!

Some random notes for those playing:

* Any attempt to Overclock places the SMU into "OC Mode" , this instantly disables Turbo, and boosts actual core voltage by about 50-100mv

*Package power readings in HWinfo are inaccurate once you start overclocking - Not sure the reason as yet.

Do you still get power saving features when you manually overclock? Will it down clock and/or undervolt when idle?

That's what I'd like to know as well.
