If it is anything like RAGE it will be a bit of open bit of corridor, which is perfect for a single player story driven experience IMO.

Is there some more hope for us afterall??

http://www.joystiq.com/2013/08/15/re...arkane-austin/

TL;DR - Arkane Studios (developer of Dishonored) is now working on Prey 2 according to some leaked emails.

Its predecessor was the same..
  • Announced in late 1995, the next Quake killer
  • Early progress shots late 1996, looks incredible
  • 'Advanced' new 3d engine in animation showcased in late 1998, looks 10x better than Quake
  • then no updates for 3 years
  • cancelled in 2003 (?)
  • Re announced in 2005 as just another run and gun shooter
  • comes out 1 year later.. Fun but nothing special.

It looked really good. Hopefully they have another crack at it later. Perhaps hand it to the team who made Wolfenstein New Order. They know how to make a solid shooter.

Hopefully they announce soon they have been working on Fallout 4. I guess we'll never know how far Prey 2 progressed...that demo they shown a few years back although impressive would have been tailor made

They could sell the IP off to another publisher or maybe even use that tech to work on a new IP.....time will tell

No. Doom3 was id Tech 4. Quake III and such was id Tech 3. While each engine is likely to contain code of the previous, they are more or less completely different technologically also that one is written in C and the other in C++.

ill pay it, even though the tech4 was essentially a port (at least to begin with).

but if you keep following that logic, they all originated from the quake1 engine. so ill leave it at them being different.

I recall reading Carmack saying something about how it started as an enhancement of Quake3 engine then they started again from the ground up, forget why.
