Bit too early to call, that video was just clickbait.

Waiting patiently for Vega, I want a HBM2 GPU that kills my Fury X

IMO Polaris was their 14nm test card. I think they are balls to the wall with Ryzen and Vega. Their next 5 years will depend heavily on the next 6 months and Vega in particular depends more on whether they can get developers using the card to its fullest rather than the Nvidia path of 'just do the usual DX11 stuff and we'll take care of building a wider faster chip'

I'm also not buying into this 'vega not powerful enough' pessimism months out from release for eleventy different reasons.

yeah,,,
but...
that is math and as everyone knows math really does not mena that much until the hardware is implemented there are so many variables that can throw those figures out the window for better or worse.

and why not use a fury x as a comparison considering it uses hbm ram and has 4096.

what i feel more comfortable with is look at the fury x on star wars at 4k then add 10 percent for the extra ram(maybe 5) then if the clock speed is right add 30 percent for that(conservative)
http://www.techspot.com/review/1174-...080/page4.html

now even if you add 30 percent to that it puts it over a 1080 from a fury x which remember only has 4 gig of ram so starts to feel 4k a lot easier...i know i have one

in other games it may get close to a 1080 but maybe not beat it.

so until someone gives us some actual numbers to go by that is what i am basing any performance figures on...but that's me and it is only an opinion.

any way you slie it though 8 gig of hbm2 will be better than any gddr5 setup for hi res gaming...it has to be again just look at how well the fury x did at 4k with only 4

Surely taking that into consideration and architectural improvements, it will be mighty quick

It was a game developer event though, not a product launch. It being at GDC, and being an event they've already hosted before was pretty telling of that.

That said, wish they'd hurry up and at least announce a month of release. Give us something!
