Health system changed

Quote:
According to an update at the official Diablo 3 homepage, Blizzard has made some pretty significant changes to the health system of the game. While adventurers can still buy health potions, the meat and potatoes of regenerating health will be based around a new health globe system.
Potions and skills offer excellent boosts to your health, but to survive multiple battles, you'll need to use them alongside a more reliable, renewable means of recovery.
That's where health globes -- floating, crimson spheres that rise from the corpses of your defeated foes -- come in. These globes are the core means of regenerating your health in Diablo III, and all other methods of healing support them. When you pick up a health globe, your health (and the health of any allies in your party) is restored by a fixed percentage depending on the type of globe you've grabbed.

Potions will now have a cooldown timer attached to them according to the update, thus eliminating the potion click fest minigame seen in previous Diablo games.
Sounds like they're making it easier to play on a.. hmm I don't know, 360 pad.

It's a better alternative than constantly chugging pots. IMO they should've got rid of pots all together, make it more about thinking if you really want to take on a mob to regain health.

I see the Globe system for health speeding up game play

I just hope its not going to make it similar to the regen health in something like RDR (making health "potions" a joke)

Well the globe system was announced yonks ago.. the only difference is that they're now allowing pots again.. which will now slow the game down a little. I don't really mind either way... i'm sure playing without pots will be the 'cool' way to play the game.

With that though they've removed the potion belt in favour of your 1-0 hotkeys of all your spells which wouldn't be so friendly for xbawx.

personally, i never had an issue with fkeys, and 2 spells at a time, it increased skill, requiring you to micro your combat.

well over a year old news there Philll.

Potions have considerable cool down times, health globes will be dropped incrementally vs bosses or champions and it has been suggested that critical strikes may cause globes to drop.
Globes heal your entire party so its not a race to snatch them.

Also pots in d2 were severely broken, stock up on full juvs and you were pretty much invincible for a good 2 minutes.

Potions also can act as buffs now for things other than just health.

Also they have addressed "consolification" numerous times, not for D3 but Blizzard would have no problems developing a console game.

Nor did I, but it's still a welcome addition. Just pointing out that the 2 spells at a time is more console friendly than 1-0 hotkeys.

It's not about the health globes. It's about the fact they've brought back the pots.
